Question about Televison & Video

Picture shadows...color (red) seems to be out of line

I have a Zenith projection big screen 54in. tv. It is used someone gave me i have a serial # but can't find a model # anywhere on the tv. No manual came with it anyway here is my issue: when i turn on the tv i have a shadow around people and words are doubled. There is a button on the remote that is the source when i push that button i choose the " projo" button which then goes to "converge" the next screen that appears is the horizontal and vertical color scheme. The red, blue & green the red color seems to be out of line not synced with the other colors says to press up or down arrows it won't work for some reason. I'm not sure what is wrong or quit how to fix it at this point i have however been just going through the menu to see if i can fix it that way but, no luck so far. I think if the red color was synced with the other colors both vertically and horizontally it would fix the shadowing of the picture. Could you please help me in this matter?

HELLO MY FRIEND. YOU PROBLEM IS THE CONVERGENCE STKS, WHEN THIS IC'S ARE BAD YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE CONVERGENCE ADJUSTMENTS BY REMOTE CONTROL,IF YOU OPEN THE SET LOOK FOR TWO BLACK PARTS WITH SAME SHAPE AND NUMBER.YOU CAN BUY THIS PARTS ON LINE AND REPLACED THEM PRETTY EASY IF YOU HAVE REPAIR SKILLS AND ALWAYS REMEMBER TO UNPLUG THE SET BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.
YOU WILL NEED A SOLDERING IRON, A DESOLDERING TOOL AND SOME SOLDER, YOU CAN GET ALL OF THIS THINGS AT RADIO SHACK.IF NOT CALL THE REPAIRMAN HE SHOULD NOT CHARGE YOU MORE THAT $250.00 FOR THIS JOB WITH PARTS INCLUDED.
GOOD LUCK

Red & green shadowing on the right side of picture

First thing to try is a convergence but with the red shadowing seems to me that you may have your color gun going. Convergence can be found in your video menu on your setup screen. Once in the menu you can adjust the colors to line up. This usually has to be done on a tv that has been moved.

Zenith rear projection tv, left 1/3 of screen has color shadowing like colors are not aligning...tried adjusting with setup menu, but didn't work

Projection sets have two very common problems listed below. bb0cf99.pngYou can see some more examples and find a fix using this link on Fixya http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

I have a 1994 zenith big screen the picture is showing really dar

It could be that the picture tubes have gone down on emission, there is a prcedure that can be tried to bring up the overall brightness but it is just possible that you will loose some picture quality. If it's a 1994 projo tv i am thinking of the three crt system, a gray scale alignment would probably correct the dark condition in your picture, again depending on how far gone is the emission in your picture tubes, if your projo tv is the dlp system, the bad news is that you could be needing some light engine repair. The color adjustment is possible with the availability of a service manual or in the case of the dlp system, light engine repairs or replacement are available from some on line stores.
