Grainger says this unit cannot use an alternate fuel.  Go to the grainger site and look under notes and restrictions.

Call this number 1-800-323-0620 That is the Grainger Parts line. The Dayton units are all made for Grainger.
They will be able to tell you (1) if the unit can be converted.
(2) If the parts are available to convert that unit.
(3) You will also be able to order the parts directly from them if they are available.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

I need a service manual for a Dayton oil fired 350,000 BTU heater.

I have a manual for a Dayton 3E218E. If you want a copy email me at and put "HEATER MANUAL" in the subject line. I can scan it in and email it back to you. This manual is for 2E510F, 2E511F, 3E218E and 3E219E. I also found a great web site for parts for all these models as well:

I have 5 dayton heaters the model number is 3E371, they were made

the proble with converting them is it's not just the need to take out the fuel valves.replace the feed line to the orffice, you need to get the correct regulators that attaches to the lpg tank.cost isn't worth doing the change over
