What could be the problem with my Cummins air compressor model td2516t? Every time I start it up, it hums and then shuts off.

i think quick connects will work for you, as long as you are talking nail guns or impact guns etc..
you can hold the tools between you legs and use your good hand to work the fitting
That is how i did it when i cut my finger off
good luck

I have the same compressor with the same problem. I have temporarily eliminated the thermal reset with a piece of 12 gauge hard wire and it runs just fine. However, I do want to replace it before the warm weather come to the north. I tested the draw at 15.5 amps and the reset was a 17 amp. I am told by someone with superior electrical background that I need to install a 20 amp thermal reset in it's place. I have found that mine runs best when plugged directly into a 20 amp circuit and when using an extention cord I have a 10 guage cord that will carry the load needed to run the EC12. I have also changed to 100% synthetic oil.

I have a TD-5050 13 gallon air compresser that is a 5 Horse running motor. The mmotor will not start on it's own with out me turning the motor by hand to get it started. I have to let all the air out and than spinn the motor to get it started. If I do this it will run for a long time. I think i might have messed it up with using too light of electric cord.
