    Hey,

Thanks for the info. The second idea is probably what I'll end up doing. I was just wondering if there may be cheaper alternative. I'm glad to hear that i would still be able to retrieve everything on my old hard drive.

You have a few options on replacing it. You could go on to different websites to try and find a new motherboard that's suitable for your needs. Some sites can include Newegg, NCIX or eBay

If you do buy a newer style of motherboard though, just be warned that you're buying the motherboard only. It doesn't come with processor or RAM, and if you buy one, there's a chance that the processor and RAM you have in your system now, may not fit in the new one. So that's something to keep in mind as well, if you want to use your current processor or RAM, make sure you're buying a board that supports both the processor and RAM you have.

A second option may be simply to retire the machine for good and look at stepping into a new machine (as costs for parts and labour for your old machine can get pretty pricey depending on what you can find). If you do choose this route, then another device I would probably look into buying is a 3.5" IDE Hard Drive Enclosure. What this can do is basically turn your internal hard drive on your old computer into a external one, so that you can plug it via usb into the new computer and retrieve any data from your old machine.

Sound card driver for amd athlon 1,1 ghz

CPUs do not have drivers. They do not contain LAN, Audio, or Video components. These are part of the motherboard they are installed upon. You need to provide the
motherboard manufacturer, model number, and revision number, along with the specific Operating System you are running. We can then help you find the driver(s) you need.

Can MSI MS-6380E support radeon x1800?

http://www.legendmicro.com/store/2940_MSI-MS-6380E-010-KT3-Ultra-Socket-A-Socket-462-for-AMD-Athlon-XPDuron-Processor.lmsp

1) Motherboard uses a Socket A processor socket. Also known as Socket 462.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_A

When they switched from the Athlon single-core processors, to the Athlon 64-bit dual-core processors, they went to a completely different processor socket.

AM2,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM2

So using the MSI MS-6380E motherboard with a dual core AMD processor = NO.

I don't seem to find an AMD Athlon 64 X2 1.8GigaHertz processor, except for a mobile version. One used for a laptop in otherwords,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113047

Uses a Socket S1 mobile processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_S1

List of AMD Athlon 64 microprocessors,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amd_athlon_64_microprocessors

Pretend like I'm from Missouri, and Show Me.

Find the processor by it's AMD part number, and post the URL of the website in a Comment.

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Venice-Single-Core-Processor/dp/B003RXLMCC

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
SINGLE-core processor, not X2.
(Socket 939 processor socket, too)

Show me the Processor, and then we can go on.
