the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Why won't my external hard drive safely eject? I am running Windows 7 Premium.

Hard drives won't safely eject if there's any program working with any files in that hard drive. For example, if you have a word document open from that hard drive, it won't eject.

I used ''Drive Wipe'' to completely clean my FreeAgentGo 250GB external hard drive. Now the computer rejects any attempt to access it. What to do? If you are goint to charge for a answer then forget it.

You should try to go to the seagate website and download the free installation utility program, seatools.
It has an option to get your drive ready to go again.

It can't hurt?

Ejecting of harddrive

Hi,

The only reason for the display "generic volume cannot eject now, try again later" is because it is still being accessed by your PC. This may be due to considerable large file size being transferred and/or being backed up, virus scan, a utility is still doing its work.

To answer your concerns:
1. Will there be a problem ...
Normally no, but yes it does happen. It happens when the actual physical removal of the USB connector(s) is not a continuous single motion.
2. How do you eject ... Shut down/power off your PC, once off remove and reboot.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
