Probably $300 depending on where you live. How do you know you need one?

Unfortunately you need a mechanic to carry out this work , but if you have all the parts and only required gas then about $300 bucks would be enough

Air condition system is no longer working and the person who checked it out says it needs a new system installed

get a second opinion when this statement is made
ac units only need replacing if parts are no longer available for repairs or the quoted repairs make it uneconomical to repair when compared to new units
for example
if your units is 15 years old, parts will be scarce and if it needs a compressor the cost of the part and labor will be close to the price of a new unit
new units are inverter units and are less costly to run and the larger units have reverse heating capability which makes them a heater unit in winter
best advice -- get a second opinion and then quotes for new units and make a decision on that information

Compressor not working

The useful life of many AC compressors is about ten years. If the fan blows but the compressor will not kick in, the compressor may have seized or locked up. If you need to have refrigerant added, a certified AC tech lisenced to recover old refrigerant and install new will be needed. Most refrigerants of this type cannot even be purchased legally by a non-lisenced repair person. Going by the age of the unit, you should get an cost estimate on repairs and weigh that against the estimated cost of replacing the unit with a newer and more efficient model. Good Luck

Furnace blowing warm air, ac overheats

Sounds like it is tripping on it's high pressure switch. This could be caused by a dirty condenser coil, overcharge of refrigerant, or non condensables in the system ( air most likely). I would get a second opinion from a repuatable company, sounds like he's trying to rip you off.

I have a bryant fin. 15 years old. not getting cool air.i change the fiter.the fan is blowing.

Check the power to the outdoor AC...make sure it is running. If it is, someone will need to check to make sure the compressor is running and that the temperatures & pressures are good.

Bryant High Efficiency Unit, runs constantly, I suspect the thermostat. Fan control and thermostat were replaced. The installer was to familiar with the installation. Could you please give me an idea of...

Any unit over 20 years is no longer energy efficient & it is past the lifespan of an AC. Get quotes from 3 different companies & go with best price with best warranty. I'm not partial to any particular manufacturer. They all get their parts from overseas.

Light is on, temp is set to cool, but the unit is NOT cool. The unit is 10 years old.

as old as the unit is the compressor has most likley gone bad. For this size compressor the replacement should not cost that much. You can call an appliance repair shop and let them know you unit and that you need a new compressor installed they should be able to quote you a cost on replacement.
Good luck hope this helped

1995 aurora need to replace front struts and rear shocks is it best to stay with air or is something else better also where is rear suspension compressor

I really like this car, almost bought one new. Now as you know OLD S has been gone since yours was made. No Parts at GM. Never were good in that area. I had a Caddy and did what you want to do when parts were avail. I stayed with the Air Strut/Shock from GM and adjusted ride height sensor ,then off to alignment. Compressor may be under battery, you'll hear it when you turn key on if it works. Kind of old to spend money on. I buy new and keep 17 years and do my own work for 46 years plus owned a shop a couple years. 15 years old is time to ride it out to the end.not restore it. Get a 68 Reviera for that. Forget the air if it becomes had to find parts or send yours out and have them rebuilt if they aren't rusted through.

I have a Bryant split system AC that is 18 years old. We have been away all summer (2 1/2 months), during which time the thermostat was set to 80°F. We live in SE Virginia and summer temps are 80's...

I am a service manager of a richmond va hvac firm and we tell are employess that if a unit is over 15 yrs old and needs over 500 dollors worth of repair to recomennd replacement the reason the leak repair is so much is because the unit has to have all the refrigerant pulled out and a torch is needed to weld the piping back together in some cases if the leak is in the coil heating it can cause other leaks you also have to add driers to the system and then the environmental fees and rules that the epa makes us follow make prices even worse if you do fix it you probally wont even get a warranty on the repair. I would replace the system and also if cost of repairs are a concern ask the company about a 10 yr part and labor warranty

Bryant 36E93 gas package (pilot won't stay lit)

If your unit has a thermo-coupling this is most likely the issue This little sensor sends a milli-voltage to the gas valve telling it to keep sending gas for the pilot since its lit and all is good. They wear out and the gas valve thinks the flame has gone out (whick is hasnt) and kills the gas flow.
