To lock the OSD, press and hold the Menu button while the monitor is off, and then press the Power button to turn the monitor on.
To unlock the OSD, repeat the locking procedure.
This took me several tries before it worked. So keep trying.

I had the same problem yesterday.
I have a BENQ 22" flatscreen with Winfast PX7600 GT NVIDIA graphic card..
These were the symptoms.
1. Yesterday the "INPUT DVI" and "INPUT SUB D" message window kept popping up simultaneously and my monitor kept going black as if its switching between modes. After restarting a few times. That message stopped. but then....
THEN!!!!! the monitor display menu started popping up..repeatedly and I started screaming profanity at the computer. All the help page that I found online were about the monitor itself being faulty. Holding on to the menu button seemed to fix the problem..temporarily.

TESTING FIRST.
My bf suggested that I hook up the monitor to my laptop and work on the laptop for a while and see if the same thing will happen..coz..if the monitor works fine..then..its not the monitor..its the driver..if the monitor still going stupid..then its the monitor...duh.
6 hours later BEHOLD!!! Its NOT the monitor.

SOLUTION!!!!
!!!!!!REINSTALL THE MONITOR DRIVER!!!! NOT THE GRAPHIC CARD DRIVER!!!!!

SO!!!
1. find the driver for ur monitor. whatever brand it is. Mine was on the original cd with user manual and such.

2. go into to Control Panel>Sytem>Hardware>Device Manager

3 locate MONITOR and expand it. Whatever's there double click to open.

4. click on Driver tab, Click on Update Driver
The hardware wizard might come up. can let it find it for u if u want. If it doesn't find it..then..in the next step,

5. click on Install from a list or specific location. The u specify ur cd-rom drive or whereever ur monitor driver is. then let it install. should be pretty quick.

6. Restart just to make sure....if it screws up ur comp. u can always do the Rollback driver by going into the same steps.

It worked for me. So hopefully it will help u too

good luck

I know you said there were others that had the same problem with the Main Menu coming up and I thought I would tell you what I did to fix the problem.

1. I shut down the PC.
2. I removed the power cable and video cable from the back of the monitor.
3. I removed the four screws that hold the stand for the monitor and slid the stand off.
4. I then removed the 5 screws that hold the back cover on the monitor.
5. I took two flat blade screw drivers and carefully removed the back cover.

At the bottom of the monitor case, there is a small circuit board the holds the 6 switches for controlling the display.

6. I located the button that calls up the Main Menu. It is the second switch from the left as you are looking at the monitor from the rear.
7. I used a small solder iron and heated up the four prongs in sequence while holding the switch with a pair of needle nose pliers. I had to rotate this process from one prong to the other while all the time applying slight pulling pressure on the switch pulling it away from the circuit board.
8. Once the switch was removed, I put the cover back on and tightened up the five screws.
9. Then I slid the base back in the slot it came from and tightened the four screws.
10. I connected the video and power cable and turned on the PC.

With the switch removed the Main Menu never popped up again and I am so very happy.

i've got the same problem and holding the menu button for 10 seconds does not help because either osd lockout keeps popping up or the osd menu.
