SOURCE: '95 Yamaha YZ 125 clutch - stays in gear when clutch is pulled in

hey dude,, just thought id come in and give u some tips or 3,, i take it when u pull clutch lever in, and try and change gear it feels like your foot will snap b4 it goes in gear,, if that makes sense,, firstly mate,is to make sure the clutch cable slides freely ,easest way is to take cable off and just grab 1 end and make sure it isnt sticky,, if so dip one end of the cable in a bit of old oil ,,whilst holdin the other end ,pull and push the cable inner, this will **** up a bit of lubricant inside the cable ,, keep doin this each end till free to move, ,,next step if the cables ok,,, and may need help if u dont no,drain the oil out,,and as u r sat on the bike is to remove the clutch casing on the right hand side of the moter, where the bottom end of the cable goes, remove the casing being carefull not damage the gasket,,then u will see clutch plates and friction plates housed,, undo the 7 or 8 spring loaded bolts carefully take the first fibre plate out then metal friction plate then another fibre plate and so on,, wen u take the 1st plate out place that on the bench ,stacking each plate on top of one another, cause they have to go back in as they came out,,wen out,,u need a piece of wet n dry paper ,or fine emery,,and just wipe round both sides of the fibre plates taking the shine off them,as u put them back in,, put casing back on with a decent gasket,, oil back in cable on, make sure cable has no free play on the lever so wen u r about to pull lever in it bite straight away,, start her up, warm it up and try it,,any probs still il eat my shoe,, take care m8

SOURCE: yz 250 wont kickstart

Hi!
You obviously look after your machine and very sensible when laying up, however as you are probably aware 2 strokes rely heavily on compression, A. to produce excellent combustion and B. to draw fuel into the chamber. So when you try kick starting you can't get enough revolutions to draw the correct amount of fuel into the cylinder, where as you push start you constantly turn over the engine increasing compression slightly and bingo it fires.
Can you remember how when kick starting it before this problem the feel on resistance when kicking over? has it now become a lot easier? if so you possibly have worn or broken compression piston rings.
A compression test will reveal this, I hope this sorts your query?
Press the Blue button please for my FREE effort,
Thank You!

SOURCE: while riding my yz 125 it just died and won,t kick up again

  • If a hole in the piston then install new piston and rings. Next, clean the carbon off the head and install a new head gasket.
  • If cylinder wall is scared the piston has seized up. Pull the cylinder off and take it to the dealer. Have them bore the cylinder and return it along with a new oversize piston and rings.
  • While at the parts counter, get a new stock spark plug and a supply of Yamalube Two Stroke Motor Oil. You need to add 4 ounces per gallon when filling up. This will be a 32/1 gas to oil ratio. NEVER ride the bike without at least the needed 32/1 mix.
Please rate the solution as a "FixYa" if able. Thanks!

SOURCE: '95 Yamaha YZ 125 clutch - stays in gear when clutch is pulled in

the plates will stick to each other because of oil
check the clutch lever at the motor and make sure it is moving the arm that pushes the pressure plate and make sure it is moving

SOURCE: Yamaha YZ125 Clutch not disengaging

I would be more concerned with the stuck gear than the clutch, but we will start with the clutch.

02ccdb2.gif The push cam may be bent or deformed and the push shaft may be bent. Assuming the ball bearing is in place, the cam and rod are all that can really go wrong. The rod slides out of the left center case. You will need to loosen the springs to get the left side cover back in place. Roll the rod on a flat surface to see if it is bent. I fear a bent shift fork is causing the gearbox to be stuck in third. Fix the clutch and then post a comment to get back to me.

I got a 1990 ford tempo I was wondering why it goes in reverse but won't go forward

Is it standard or automatic, I think it must be Standard because that doesn't happen with Automatics. If you put it in low and it only goes backwards someone had it (The transmission apart) and put the slider in back wards or something like that. Perhaps the forward gears are gone so they wanted to see if reverse works. Maybe you meant when you shift into a forward gear it doesn't work but when you shift it into reverse it does work. There is a fork like gear that moves the gears in and out of high and low range and it might be broken and it is possible if you find it hasn't been ground up in the internal gears it might be welded back in place and be sure to grind off every bit of flux so the gears can work smoothly. Best thing is to go to a junk yard that still has older cars like the Tempo so you can buy the transmission.

My 05 durango won't go when put in drive and it also makes a grinding noise when I place it in park

sounds as if the yoke on the transmission or maybe transfer case is damaged so when you put the truck in drive causes the gears to turn but the drive shaft does not rotate which in turn is causing the grinding noise when you try to put the truck back in park

Shifter moves on big bear 350 but quad wont reverse now it goes forwards

for some reason you are not getting into reverse , there is no real reason it should stay in forward gears unless there is someting wrong with the shifter itself being in the wrong position this can happen take it off and reposition it and make sure your clutch is disengauging to shift gears , will it go into all gears or just 1 forward , ck into that and be a little more specific on the problem ,good luck

I have a 1978 Yamaha dt 175 enduro motorcycle, got it to start and run but when you put it in gear to go it goes in reverse. what is rotation or why is this like it is?

DUDE! I totally just wrote this long ol answer to your problem ,then the computer didn't take it! Anyway, ok, Dude, just take the right side cover off, and check for damage to your clutch housing gear, the gear behind you clutch housing, and your final drive gear.....What I think happenned is that someone (while working on that bike) put your final drive gear on backwards, and it's still meshing with your clutch housing gear, but since the gear is backwards, it's pushing your bike bakwards......Not to mention though, if that is it, Man your bike aint feeling to happy inside, I'm thinkin' "man, if that bike is doing that, there's gotta be some damage somewhere".....But, I'm hoping that there isn't, so we'll pray to GOD that there isn't.....Ironically, you wont really hurt the bike too bad, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T PUT IT IN GEAR! But think of it this way, accidentally, you have one of the most unique bikes in the world.....Imagine how many people you could impress on the computer, if you could learn to ride that baby backwards dude! They would be like, "dude! how does he do that" ? how did some one put a reverse gear on a motorcycle like that"?? Man, talk about the possibilities, in circuses, or carnivals.....Anyway, if you don't want all that, I would just look at taking the nut off the final drive gear, then just flipping over your gear the other way......Please let me know what you find, I'll try to help you more if you need it....Oh yeah, and by the way, your magneto ( on the left side ) of the crankcase, and your final drive gear,( on the right side ) of your motor, is supposed to spin towards the front of your motor cycle.....IF, by any chance they are not, then you got somethin' screwy goin' on inside the transmission.....somethin's reversed there hombre'.....THANKS, GOD BLESS.....JASON!

My boat goes in backwards when i put it in gear and when i put it in reverse it goes forward. what could be the problem?

My guess is you have the wrong prop on your boat. You need to check if it is a right or left prop. Right hand prop will spin clockwise if you are looking at it from the rear.

98 vw beetle wont go in reverse

I have a 1998 and I just confronted the same problem. It seems to take like 1 gear in reserve and like 2 gear in 1 gear. Any thoughts? I don't really it should be the transmission since it still works going forward in 2 different gears. Thanks.
