Why is my car overheating?

Open the hood and find out where that loud sound is coming from first. Make sure the fan is not bent or blades damaged.

Keeps Blowing head gaskets

You need to strip the engine down and check the top of the block (deck) for cracks and have it resurfaced, Do the same for the cylinder heads, check them for vcracks and have them resurfaced. Use felpro gaskets.

2005 Chevy Equinox leaking oil out of exhaust manifold 107,000 miles. Just had head gasket replaced and heads rebuilt in which one was cracked. Mechanic puzzled by this because there is no smoke or odor...

Take it back and have the heads redone. Sounds like they left oil seals out or they didn't find a crack in the other head. It is very unusuall for oil to come from the exhaust and not smoke. And if the oil is coming from the exhaust gasket ,then the mechanic also didn't do his job right. This gasket should be tight, no air or anyhting else should be coming from between the engine and exhaust manifold. The never timed it is impossible, as it has to be timed to run. I would probably take it to anoher shop, explain what has gone on, get an estimate to fix it. And demand the other shop pay for it.

My car has a loud ticking noise coming from the engine, i was told it was a lifter is this going to cause my car to shut down?

Get an opinion from a mechanic. If it is a lifter a professional needs to adjust it because it must be within thousandths of an inch. You would need the correct tools and experience to do this job.

99 vw beetle, been overheating for a couple weeks off and on . put coolant in it . well, it was overheating bad and smoked and got real hot. so had it towed . called mecahnic to find out what was wrong and...

Check around, I'm sure that you can find someone that can do it for less money.

I don't know if the radiator was bad or not, so I can't offer advice on that.

If your mechanic charges $100.00 per hour or more, I can see where they get the quote from.

If you need more assistance, post a comment.

Where are you located?

Maybe we can help suggest a mechanic for you.

Thanks,

Tim

99 Chevy Malibu belt chirping noise problem.

one or more of the pulley's is defective, most likely the tensioner pulley, but check them all for wear and side to side movement which indicates a worn bearing, this causes the belt to not run true and chirp.

HELP

Coolant that goes down, but is not leaking visibly (check for puddles after parking), is probably a head gasket problem. Have u been checking the oil level? Is it going up, or not using as much as before? This is usually an indication of a bad head gasket, which allows the coolant to leak into the oil. The ticking noise can actually be the head gasket also. As the vehicle warms up, things expand, and any leak in the head gasket will close up and the ticking noise will not be noticeable. As time goes on, the 'ticking' will last longer, and get worse. Have u noticed if this ticking is lasting longer than when u 1st heard it? Let me know how u make out. countrycurt0
