Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

Recently, when I access my bank's website, I am logged out whenever I change the screen. This didn't happen before, and it only happens with the bank website. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

I tried clearing the browser and cookies. No change. Please provide additional options.

    I'm using IE 7.0.5730.11

In response to the request for clarification, it only occurs on my desktop, not my laptop or any other computer I have tried. Also, I recently used "CCleaner" to help defrag and clean the register. This app was installed by the tech who worked on the desktop earlier this year.

stif_NEC and NL 71, thanks for your help. I finally got around to downloading Firefox. That seems to have taken care of the problem. I can now access the bank website without getting "booted." Thanks for your suggestions.

this might be due to the security of the Bank's website or due to the browser you are using, have you tried a different browser of computer and see if this occurs?

then you have isolated the problem which is in your computer. Try downloading Mozilla and see if you will encounter the same problem.

I suggest that you try clearing your cookies & browser cache.

Corruption of locally stored data will cause problems for sites requiring login details.

If you are using the Firefox browser, select from the main (drop-down) menus; <Tools> -> <Clear Private Data> then select the check boxes next to [Cache] and [Cookies] - ensure all other check boxes are cleared and then click the <Clear Private Data Now> button.

If you are familiar with the process described, I suggest that you first try clearing only the cache ( retaining your cookies) - if that is unsuccessful then repeat the above, also removing the cookies.

If you are using Internet Explorer please request clarification and I will update accordingly - I haven't used it routinely for many years. Recently, when I access my bank's website, I am - close.gif Read more >> Options >> answers-logo.gif

Which browser (including version number) are you using?

You should be able to get this information via the pulldown menu; Help -> About

You're behind with your IE version; alone, this is very unlikely to be the cause of your problem but the possibility of file or registry corruption remains.

CCleaner is an excellent application and it is also unlikely to have caused the problem although, it is possible under certain circumstances.

I suggest installing/upgrading to the latest version of IE - this should replace the core files and registry settings.

If you still have no success, please reply with your experience and any error messages - I will then reconsider the situation if necessary.

How to avoid online banking fraud ?

1.Change your password regularly: Users must change their password after the first log-in for online banking. Besides, keep changing your password at regular intervals. Needless to say, don't disclose your password to anyone, not even the banking staff.
2.Avoid using cyber cafes for banking purposes: Avoid using the Internet banking facility from cyber cafes, libraries or from systems installed in public places. But in case it is an absolute necessity, you must clear the browser cache and delete the temporary files on the PC you've accessed the Internet from.
3.Don't use personal details in the password: Avoid using your date of birth, telephone number, address or name in your password. This practice makes your account more vulnerable to being hacked as your password can be easily guessed by just about anyone. Besides, do not leave your computer unattended while you are logged in to the bank site.
4.Don't let your browser memorise your details: Never let your computer remember your passwords, names, etc. Always disable the browser's option of storing user names and passwords.
5.Don't e-mail credit card and account details: Make it a thumb rule not to send credit card or account details via e-mail to anybody, or in response to an e-mail.
6.Shop at reputed sites only: While shopping online, please wait for a second and check if the website is an established one and a reputed name in the online shopping domain. Always check if the shopping site has a well-established permanent address.

8.Look for the padlock and the 's' in the URL: While making online payments, check whether the website is secure or not by looking for, i) a padlock symbol at the bottom of your browser, and ii) an 's' added to http in the URL. It should then be https.
9.Check the account: Whenever you make a transaction, immediately check your account and see if the right amount has been deducted or added to it. In case there is any misappropriation, inform the concerned bank immediately.
10.Don't follow the links: Always reject any e-mail that asks you to follow a link to the website of your bank. You may end up revealing your personal details on a fake bank website, from which hackers steal information.
11.Don't open multiple browsers: You must not open multiple browsers during Internet banking. Also equip your system with an up-to-date anti-virus software and have a firewall installed in it.
12.Destroy the receipts: Do not keep documents and receipts related to your online translations. They usually carry confidential personal financial information. You had better destroy or shred such documents or receipts to stop them from falling into the wrong hands.
13.Don't share your personal information on websites: You shouldn't give your e-mail address at websites without knowing how it will be used. Besides, do not share your personal information like date of birth, etc, on the Internet unnecessarily because it can be used by others to unlock or generate your account password.

Logging in someone recently tryed to logg into my facebook.

This usually happens if you used a proxy server or you have connected an IP different from your internet provider.

my suggestion for this is:
1. Change your password, the longer the password, the better. include numbers and special characters on your password
2. do not use proxy servers or other website aside from do not use other URL's aside from the website you are trying to access to
3. do not give out your username and password
