Question about Garden

1 Answer

I hit a rock with my Toro 20331 22'' recycler ... a bunch of pieces of hard black plastic came out. It appears to have been in a curved shape before its mishap. I've looked on the Toro website but can't find anything that looks like the right part to order. I can't be the only one that's done this ... Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick response ... more indepth comparison of Toro's parts drawing and the underside of my mower made me think it is just as you surmise ... the rear baffle. I have ordered the baffle and its related pieces and am, with your response, now fairly confident I will be able to resurrect my almost brand new mower.

    Thank you very much!
    Bev

Toro recycler wont start after hitting rock

flywheel key sheared but before you make this repair... disconnect the spark plug wire, turn the mower on it's side with the muffler pointing down and spin the blade by hand while keying in on one spot to verify the crankshaft isn't bent... removing the spark plug makes this task safer and easier... did you remove the flywheel nut ??? reinstall it so it's even with the top of the crankshaft. put a prybar under the flywheel and hit the nut with a large mallet... DO NOT USE A STEEL HAMMER OR YOU RISK RUINING EVERYTHING... you can actually use a steel hammer but you have to be very careful... that's just a disclaimer :-)

Mower hit a rock and won't start

On most push mowers, there is a "key" that is located on the end of the crankshaft, opposite end of the blade, that drives the flywheel. It's a small rectangle piece of metal that connects the two. When the inertia of the blade stops abruptly, the flywheel acts as a safety for the engine, and shears the key. Tools are made to remove the flywheel and videos online for repair assistance. Replacement keys are specific to the engine you are working on. Hope this helps!

Toro 6.5hp 22" Recycler model#20072 Self-prpel

John, adjusting the cable would have been my first suggestion as well, there are two screws accesible from under the deck to get the black cover off (one of them is in a corner and may be hard to see). Once you get the cover off you may be able to see if you may have a tension problem, belt problem, etc. Goodluck!

Toro recycler runs like ****

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals and/or the jet in carb. These portals can become blocked. Replace the diaphragm as well. Reassemble and start.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Dual blade mower leaves uncut strips between blades.

Had same uneven mowing problem with new Toro Z4200 XTR mower. Problem was one side of the U-shaped rear deck hanger rod had popped out of its chassis mount (did hit something with mowing deck). Removed hanger chassis mount & its bolt. Put end of U-shaped rear deck hanger rod back in the chassis mount and remounted hanger chassis mount & its bolt. Z4200 now cuts lawn evenly again.
