Question about Samsung Televison & Video
Before replacing the STK's I have read that you need to reset the convergence to factory settings to clear any corruption that may exist that would put the new STK's under undue stress which could damage them?
Is tis true?
Also, when switch on my Samsung and press perfect focus I get a message 'check factory data'.
Normally, when pressing perfect focus it automatically focuses and finishes when 100% complete, except that it was only going to 33%.
Now when pressing perfect focus it doesn't do a scan at all it only gives me this message 'check factory data'
I'm just worried that I have cleared something that I shouldn't have?
Why is it £150 TO CHANGE stK392 IN uk but buy them from USA and they are less than $10?
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

You have a bad sensor, a bad digital convergence board, or the new board is not working correctly. I would start by swaping out the convergence board or exchange it for another one. Good Luck

Your message says you "replaced stk392-150", did you replace both of the stk`s or just one of them??? One is for RGB vertical the other is for RGB horizontal, you should always replace both stk`s as a set, Hitachi recommends you use a "replacement kit"
part number X480306", this kit includes both stk`s with a new & supposedly improved set of stk`s as well as all resistors that are required for proper set-up, they strongly recommend you change all of the parts in their kit. The only other thing besides IC`s & resistors that could cause your problem is:
1) bad dcu output (you need a scope to check this)
2) you`ve lost either the +15 volt line or the -15 volt line to the IC`s, "Fxxx" chemical fuse open in power supply.

Not at all familiar with your tv but this sort of message comes up if you have altered eeprom settings while in engineers mode.
To put it right you will need the work shop manual to know how to reset the settings.
Maybe A tech on these forums can help you out.

If you are removing a defective chip, can you just cut the pins carefully with a wire cutter and later apply heat to pull them off?
