Question about Refrigerators
Defrost is not working, motherboard has no wiring diag. Just want to make sure before ordering a new board that its in fact the board and not the defrost strip.
Rarely is a defrost problem caused by the mother board. (but it can happen) The most common cause is the glass tube defrost heater. I'd unload the freezer section, take the evaporator cover off (ie: the back wall of the freezer section) and ohm test the defrost heater at the bottom of the cooling coils. (ie: the evaporator) To do this, remove the push on wires and see if you get a ohm reading. Sometimes you can visually see a bad defrost heater, but the resistance check is your definitive test. You did not list your model number, so I can not list a part number for you. A defrost issue can also be cause by air leakage, such as a poor door gasket or a door which was not completely closed.
