Question about Refrigerators

Fridge ice accumulation inside and water dripping outside

I have a 9 year old Maytag PSB2352GRW side-by-side refrigerator. I found there is quite a bit ice accumulation at the bottom inside the fridge, and water dripping onto the floor outside the fridge. I tried removing the ice but overnight the ice accumulated again.

I have tried cleaning the rubber parts around the inside edges of the fridge door. Seems no help.

Also tried looking for the defrost drain pipe. Only found one plastic pipe at the lower back. The pipe is not blocked (tried removing the end that connects to the fridge and poured in a bit water and water comes out from the other end into a pan).

Is there anything I can try myself, or should I call in a professional to fix it?

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions.

Firstly thanks very much for responding.

Sorry, maybe I'm not clear. The unit is a side-by-side unit, left freezer and right fresh food. The ice build-up is only in the bottom of freezer side and the fresh food side is OK.

I don't know how to get to the drain from the inside. Is there a repair manual with diagrams?

    Thanks again for your time.

Hi, Are you getting ice build up in the freezer side as well? There is a air shuttle between the fresh food side and the freezer side. thwater might be getting in the freshfood side from there. Look at the bottom rear panel in the freezer for ice build up. Ig=f there is ice, you will need to get to the drain from inside the freezer and check for blockage.
Please let me know if I can help you further.

You are welcome for the help!

You will need to remove the rear panel in the freezer (usually held on by 4-6 screws. Then you can seen the drain pan and you will see the drain hole once you remove the ice. PLEASE use a hair dryer (with the refrigerator unplugged) and not a sharp object. Once the drain hole is visible, a glass of hot water might melt the ice deep in the drain hose. You might need to push a wire of so sort down through the drain tube or I have even used a baisting serenge with water in it to flush the drain tube.

I have ice accumulation on the bottom shelf of my freeze of my Maytag side by side MSD2957DE. There seems to be water dripping down from the back inside panel. Is this something I can fix on my own

If you have an ice maker, or water dispenser turn off the water supply to the fridge temporarily, and see if the problem still exist. The solenoid water valves on some of these models accumulate mineral deposits and don't close completely after time, thereby leaking.

Outside ice despenser is dripping, no ice

water dispenser -Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

ice maker - If it overfills and drips, look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.

If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.

Maytag Widey Side not cooling enough

Check to see if you have frost on the back panel of your freezer in your fridge. If you do your coil is frozen over and you'll have to defrost your freezer. I just did mine cause mine wasn't cooling properly on my fridge side. If it is that it's going to fill the pan under your fridge and overflow.

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.
