Ice maker not working; straining to rotate

Built in Kitchenaid refrig KSSS36DWW02. Ice maker not working. Appears to be straining to rotate but will not turn. The white wheel that says "do not rotate manually" is trying to rotate.

Hi, I looked up your model and I see no filter listed. Does your owners manual suggest there is a filter?
Let me know please.

Hi, It sounds like there is some ice build up or something that is restricting the fingers from turning to extract the ice cubes. Disreguard the comment about the filter! I ment that for another question the was posted I am sorry.

Sometimes an icecube will not extract properly or a piece of ice will lay on top of the icemaker to keep it from turning.

    Hope this helps you.

MY Kitchenaid model KSCS25INSS00 refrig ice maker is only producing crushed ice...no cubes...

There a button on the control panel label "cube ice" if you push this it will remove a gate up in the front of the ice make. If it not working. Remove the ice tray and you will see long rod on the ice tray. Move the rod back and forth afew time. Also, on the back wall behind the ice tray is a small latch, make sure that this latch is free to move. There could be ice on it remove the ice. Then reinstall the tray. GB....stewbison
