Canada is 120. U.K. is 240. This is only for the adapter (large block between PC and wall outlet). This adapter changes A.C. current from wall to D.C. current for laptop. If power adapter is from Canada.  You must buy a different power adapter.  These should be available in U.K. Bring old cords and block to computer store so you get the right plug and voltage.

What voltage converter should I have to use this DVD in Canada?

Hello, Jarosaw -

Clarification: You are asking about a DVD player?

I have no idea where you reside now. If you reside in the USA and want to use your DVD player in Canada, you do not need any kind of voltage converter. Both Canada and the USA use 120 volt electrical service.

If you live in the United Kingdom and wish to use your U.K. DVD (220 volts) player in Canada (120 volts), I refer you to the information here:

If you are not in the U.K., I suggest you use your favorite search engine to find the proper kind of voltage converters for electronics purchased in the country where you are located, so you may use them in Canada. I used Google with the following search strategy, using quotation marks as shown:
"voltage converter" "220 v to 120 v"
Or, you can use this kind of search strategy, with quotation marks as shown:
"voltage converter" "Your Country to Canada"
"voltage converter" "New Zealand to Canada"

Best wishes.

If you bought a new AC adapter and its not charging the battery then that would tell me the batter is bad and would need to be replaced. There is also the possibility that the motherboard as well. Make sure you have a new battery and adapter in place before arriving at that solution.

Auto Sensing voltage circuit

By default, Dell systems sold in Canada have non PFC power supply. Sad to say for this type of system that is pretty old it doesn't have any ATX that would convert the voltage. It's only applicable on newer systems. You might need to purchase for a PFC power supply this time since the system is in UK.

I am moving to Canada and am taking my Compaq computer with me. Before I go I have to know a couple of things: 1. I need to get the voltage changed to 110 for Canadian power - how and where can this...

Almost all modern electronics will work on almost all power systems. Look at the fine print on the power supply (plugin adapter, brick, etc.) for the Voltage rating, which is usually 110v - 240v. On a desktop CPU, the voltage rating will be near the AC plug on the back. They switch automatically. If your DVDs play on your computer now, they'll play just fine on your computer anywhere on the planet.
