You need to try this method

2. You need to install a BlackBerry OS file that is specific to your device. The original version, as supplied by the carrier, is the safe choice, but you can use any model specific version. This is not supplied on your BlackBerry CD, Ref: 3 links to BlackBerry's download pages.

3. Once the OS has been installed, you have to prepare it for the device.

Select Start / Computer and select the Drive C: Icon.

Open Program Files / Common Files / Research in Motion / AppLoader.

Navigate to the bottom and delete the file Vendor.XML file.

4. You are now ready to restore your device. Verify that BlackBerry Desktop Manager is NOT running. Plug the device directly into the computer's USB port.

We are about to venture into the bowls of the beast. Windows is not suitable for this job, we are going to invoke the Command line interface with an option switch.

Windows XP: Start / Run... / Command

Windows Vista: Start / Command (type this into 'start search')

I will suggest two things. 1. Backup everything you have on your phone and wipe it by going to (for O.S. 6) Options, Security then security wipe. Make sure the Email,Contacts... Check box is enabled. You may or may not enable the User Installed Check box. Note that your contacts and user data will all be deleted, but never mind you will have them in the Backup.(If you really backed it up, either using BB Protect or BB Desktop Manager) 2. You can also try and re-install or re-upgrading the O.S. I hope these help. Thanks for using Fixya!

I get the message Uncaught exception: DSSMA: invalid state (5):10060 everytime I try to get my messages

Hi, When the BlackBerry smartphone user attempts to access or open the messages folder from the Home screen, the Uncaught Exception: DSSMA Invalid state error message is displayed. To resolve this error, you need to perform a hard reset of the BlackBerry smartphone. If you face the same error even after performing a hard reset of the BlackBerry smartphone, you need to complete the following steps: 1. Back up the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Erase all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone. Restore the backup of the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Hope I helped you. Thank you for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Uncaught exception DSSMA: invalid state (5):2

You first need to attempt a hard reset. Simply put, pull the battery while the phone is on,wait 30 seconds, then replace it and turn it on. If that doesn't work, make sure you have the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager downloaded to your computer, back up your phone using backup/restore, the delete all data and applications the do a restore using your previous back up. For full instructions go to www.blackberry.com/support and search KB10859.

Uncaught exception DSSMA : Invalid state (5):5

Sounds like a mess :)

At that point I would have to say re-install the firmware.

Seems like you somehow got a type of virus on your phone that has destroyed some critical files.

If i can find the German link to the American firmware again, I'll post it so at least it's like a firmware upgrade which would overwrite the core files. it also adds video capture which isn't the best quality, but it is nice.

I don't think there's a good enough virus software out there yet for the BB, but if you have one on your PC you might want to try hooking it to the USB and running a virus scan on the phone through Windows.

I am having a problem with texting on my Blackberry Curve. Everytime I try to text I get Uncaught Exemption:DSSMA:invalid state(5):3. How do I undo this, so I can text and recieve texts?

try this method it works...

When your device fails to start, it show one of these symptoms:

1. Totally dead.

2. Trying to restart, LED activity only.

3. Failed to start, a white screen with an error message.

__________________________________________________ ________

1. Physical damage, water is the worst enemy of delicate electronic device. Try drying it with a desiccant and replacing the battery. If there is no activity, you can still try the last ditch technique, nothing to loose anyway.

2. Your device is not able to start, something has gone wrong and the OS is corrupt.

3. Geeks call this an "Uncaught exception error". That is a polite way of saying, the last thread has terminated, the OS has halted because it is corrupt.

In many cases, the Application Loader can be used from Desktop Manager or Windows.

The good news, starting from scratch, you will be back in service in a couple of hours. biggrin.gif

Note: Windows 7 beta is not compatible with these instructions.

1. ...

2. You need to install a BlackBerry OS file that is specific to your device. The original version, as supplied by the carrier, is the safe choice, but you can use any model specific version.
