I've cleaned up all electric connections til they shine. The vacuum fuel taken apart and cleaned. Have bypassed the starter switch and the solenoid and even with a battery charger on it still won't start. The plug gap .35 with new plug. I have so had it with this machine never buy a polaris again! Anybody got any ideas?
Check the spark with a test light if you see on flash from the test light showing the plugs firing replace the ignition

Check the battery with a VOM while pressing the start button. If you have good voltage check the voltage on the positive cable on the starter. If you have good voltage there you have a bad starter, considering your cable connections are clean and tight. If no voltage at the starter the solenoid is no good. Usually the click is the solenoid closing and if the connections are not clean or tight the current will not make it to the starter.

this sounds crazy but is your speedometer in working order. i have a 99 also and i didnt get any spark one day just quit. after a couple days of trying things i read on the internet about if your speedometer is not working and cutting on or off it will short out the spark and also make the 4 wheel drive not work. i unhooked the speedo and no problems since.

I have a 2006 Sportstman 500HO ATV, EFI. Sometimes it will run 100% correct, other times it will start, idle fine but then when giving it throttle will will start to surge almost like it's hitting a rev limited. Sometimes it will backfire and stall. I already replaced fuel filter, flushed the fuel lines and gave it fresh gas and installed a new spark plug, but no good. I also checked the throttle switch and it's not making contact to stall it. I download the service manaul and tested each sensor and they tested fine which is probablt why I get no check engine light.
This ATV is mainly used to plow snow in my driveway, no salt. It's used around my property but very lightly. It's still as clean as it was when I bought it and it doesn't have but about 40 hours on it.
