Assuming "Window Unit" with rotary switch.
L1 (smooth part of line cord) to thermostat 1, thermostat 2 to overload (black disk) from overload to Common( C) terminal on compressor.
From Run (R) terminal on Compressor to Common (C) terminal on dual capacitor. From Start (S) terminal on Compressor to "Herm" terminal on capacitor. From fan motor to # 4 on switch = Medium Speed, to # 6 on switch = High Speed, from fan motor to # 7 on switch - Low Speed. Brown wire from fan motor to (F) on dual capacitor, white wire from fan to (C) on capacitor and L2 (ribbedwire) (N) to (C) on capacitor

It won't start and displays E3 fault code. Manual says this is faulty coils? Took apart and cleaned all, looks good. Still has code displayed and won't run. How to clear fault code? Thank You.Jeff

E3 means "unit-abnormal protection to avoid occurence of unit damage."

Manufactures does not recommend that a homeowner try to attempt a repair on a code like this as it indicates possible wiring or internal problems. Have you checked for an internal fuse on the circuit board? I would also check the incoming power to make sure you have the proper voltage. You can also try unplugging the unit, waiting 30 seconds and plug back in to see if the code disappears.
According to A/A brands, if this code appears, shut off device and call authorized service company. I'm just trying to get you some things you can check yourself prior to doing that.

Hope this helps.

My dog yanked a brown wire out of the outdoor ac unit that has the fan. how do i rewire it?

If it is the small wire, that goes to the coil on the contactor. It is a low voltage wire that comes from the thermostat. You need to disconnect power from the machine before attempting any repairs. Do not short the small wires or that could fry the transformer
On each side of the contactor is spade connections to the 24 volt coil. All machines use a magnetic contactor as a way to energize the machines parts using smaller wires coming from inside the house at the thermostat and inside blower.

My heat will not shut off i have a remote thermostat i can take thermo wires apart at ac unit and stop it

The thermostat is supposed to do the same thing you are doing when you take the thermostat wires apart at the ac unit - it's not.

I would replace the thermostat and see if that doesn't fix the problem.

good luck!

Window unit no longer cooling

you could pull the front cover off and see if there is a loose wire in the control box (behind where the control knobs are). it could just be a bad thermostat. you will see a copper wire with a silverish end on it coming out of the t-stat, try holding it between your fingers for a few minutes to warm it up, turn the t-stat to coldest setting possible, turn unit on, and then see if the compressor will kick on. if neither of those things help you could try replacing the thermostat, probably not expensive from samsung if the unit isn't too old. if that doesn't help either then the compressor probably bit the dust. but if not its worth fixing! hope that helps.

No heat

Hello , I think I can help , all you really can do is order a new control board and install it unless you want to keep rewiring it from heat to cool. They are fairly easy to install , you can order it on line with the model number off the unit spec sticker/tag. Hope that helps , good luck

Air Conditioner malfunction

Hi, Sounds like you have a short in the control circuit to me. Turn off all power going to the unit. Write down or otherwise mark the wires leaving the control board going to the thermostat. Remove them from the control board. Replace the fuse. Turn power back on and see if the fan still runs. If it does, check and or replace the heat limit switch that brings the fan on during the heat cycle. It may just need adjusted. If the fuse blows, I would think that the control board is probably bad. If it doesn't blow, Remove the thermostat. Leaving all thermostat wires open check them with an Ohm meter. There should be no continuity between them. Twist all the wires together at one end and ohm them again at the other end. You should have complete continuity on all wires. If the wiring checks out, down power the unit. Double check your wire colors and rewire the control board. With all wires open at the thermostat, turn the power back on. Touch the RED wire to the YELLOW wire. The Condensing unit should come on. Touch the RED wire to the GREEN wire. The fan should come on. Touch the RED wire to the WHITE wire. The heat should come on. Down power the unit. Replace the thermostat. Test unit. If the fuse has lasted ok but blows now it is either wired wrong at the Thermostat or the thermostat is bad. I hope I have helped. NOTE: If you can not understand these instructions. Call a licensed Heating / Air conditioning company. kstfas
