Problem in printer lexmark not doplex printing for attiontion manul doplex printing

The duplex unit for this printer is an optional fitting.
If you do not have the optional duplex unit installed then you can only do double sided printing one page at a time manually.
For instructions for manual double sided printing, click on this link :-

How do i remove the duplex?

Here's an article on How to Install a Duplex Option on a Lexmark T64x Series Printer. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/94TYQc. This is just to give you an idea on how the duplex option is installed. The duplex unit attaches under the printer, below the standard tray (tray 1) and above any option drawers (trays 2, 3, etc). Removing it is just a matter of lifting up the printer from the duplex option and then lifting up duplex unit removing it from the option drawers, if you have any.

Does this printer have duplex capability and what option do I need to duplex

Don,

Yes, this printer has a duplex option. It is an assembly that mounts under the printer.

However, given the age of the printer, you may not be able to purchase one.

Check the Lexmark website, www.lexmark.com and see if you can purchase the option there. Next best solution is to call the Lexmark Parts Center and see if you can purchase the complete assembly.

Where to change the setting of a lexmark t642 printer to get the paper printed on both sides

Hi,
The setting should be on the driver. Once you are ready to print a document just select print then printer options and you should see the option of two sided printing and select the long edge or short edge. If you want to know where in the printer menus is the option, then go to the printer menus then select Finishing Menu then Duplex and just select ON. that should activate the duplex option.

Will not duplex - fails duplex quick test

Hello.

Here are some suggestions from Lexmark as to why the printer will not duplex:

The ability to select duplex printing requires the following:
  • -The printer must recognize the physical duplex option.
  • -The duplex option must be recognized by the driver under Properties > Install Options.
  • -The selected Paper Type must not be:
    -Transparency
    -Labels
    , or
    -Cardstock/Extra Heavy Paper.

  • -Under Page Layout > More Page Layout Options, the following options must not be selected:
    -Booklet printing
    -
    Poster printing
Printer recognition of duplex option Some printers and MFPs have the duplex option built into the physical printer while others require physical connection of the duplex option or tray.
To check for an installed duplex option:
Print a Menu Settings page and check for DUPLEX under Device Information > Installed Features. (The embedded web server path is Reports > Device Settings > Device Information > Installed Features.)
If DUPLEX does not appear as an installed option, consider the following possible reasons: -The duplex drawer or tray is not properly connected to the printer. Try reseating the printer onto the duplex option so that the duplex option's upper auto-connect connector is properly aligned with the printer's bottom auto-connect connector. NOTE: A "982 duplex error" may also result from this condition.
-Turn the printer off for about 15 seconds, and then turn the printer back on. If the printer was quickly turned off and on, a low-voltage power condition could prevent the peripheral from being acknowledged during the initial printer start-up.
-The auto-connect connector is damaged on the printer or duplex option.

Software driver recognition of duplex option - reinstall driver.

Hope these suggestions help.

No power

Hi Bret! Since this is a brand new printer, I would advise calling Lexmark. I'm afraid that you may void your warranty if you do much more at this point except for going back through the steps to make sure the duplexer was installed correctly.
1. Power off the printer and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet
2. Push the release button, and gently lower the front door.
3. Release the green tabs and lift up the image transfer belt.
4. Remove the cover over the duplex connector.
5, Remove the duplex option from the packaging. Carefully install the option into the printer, under the image transfer unit. NOTE: Make sure to line up the arrows on the duplex option with the arrows on the printer. Make sure the duplex option locks into position.
6. Lower the image transfer belt back into position. Make sure the belt locks into position.
7. Close the front cover.
8. Plug the printer back in, then power the printer on.
9. Try printing a few pages to confirm that the duplex option is securely installed. Then select the duplex option in the software and print a few double-sided pages to confirm that the duplex option is working.
The following link will take you to the instructions for enabling the duplex option in the software.

If the above does't work, I would strongly suggest contacting Lexmark for further help.
