Question about Fuji FinePix S5000 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Fujifilm S5000 model, works well but have picture problems.

Camera has been good to me and always taken excellent quality photos however, the lock button recently got caught on the carry case to the middle and then it needed new batteries. Replaced the batteries but the photos since are not clear, like blurred and not the quality they used to be. Have viewed the booklet but can't seem to solve the problem. I'm not a camera expert, simply take photos, down load and print etc. Can anyone help me get clearer photos.

Have been told to always have the right dial on Auto to make it easy for me but it appears to be some other problem as I'm still taking photos, can down load etc but the clarity and sharpness isn't the same, just like being blurred or out of focus. Any suggestions????? Still reading the manual but keep re reading pages and not sure what to do.

The photos appears clear on the viewer but when I download them on the computer to view in larger size, they are not clear and seem blurred or out of focus and not clear and crisp. What am I doing wrong??? Is it the picture size or something else that would help me???

Where is the this S-AF on the camera? Help me please. The right dial has Auto, P S A M SO Movie and some blue symbols. Where the lock switch is on far left it has Lock, S M C to right. Can't find this S-AF. The photo's look clear on the small screen but when I download them they are still blurry for some reason. This camera took beautiful photos, it hasn't been dropped so don't know what I'm doing wrong. Looked in the book and no help. Should I simply go to a camera store and get advice??? Any help please, I simply want to take clear photos on this camera.

The button you described will only go halfway to the dot between lock and S M C. I am unable to move it clockwise to the S as you suggest only to unlock or lock. Will keep trying to figure this out. All my previous photos were fantastic prior to this button being caught in the bag and moved and everything changed since.

There is a focus mode button on the top left of the camera.  Put it in the unlock position and press it to change the focus mode.  I would presume that it would change on the display to tell you what is set.

    Hopefully that will help.

Did you check to see if auto-focus is still enabled?

You want to set the focus mode to S-AF, then move the focus mode selector to the lock position.
Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Is the button on the left in the lock position?  If so, try moving it to S.

  • solderfix May 30, 2009

The manual says the following (page 20):

"1) Unlock the Focus mode selector lock switch.

    2) Press the Focus mode selector button to set the

    Focus mode to “S-AF”.

Lock the Focus mode selector lock switch to

    prevent inadvertent mode changes."

Put it in the unlock position and press the button (the top of the lock switch).  You should see the display change on the back of the camera.  You want to see it change to S-AF.  Then move it back to the lock position.

Why does my fujifilm finepix s5000 camera say memory card is full when it is empty ?

RAW format uses enormous file sizes. Smaller memory sticks will be used up with just one single picture when using the RAW format. You're confirmed this when you said it only happens when you use RAW format. You need to use a larger memory stick, if you want to use the RAW format.

Need to Increase the DPI on my Fuji S5000

It does not work like this.

You can select the quality of the pictures (pixels) with the "F" key.
What you are talking about is "dots per inch", and that has to do with your printer.................,
where you can increase the dpi. 300dpi is not high quality at all !

Send it to the Fujifilm camera repair center. The S5000 has a known issue with bad CCD sensors... Unless you want to do it yourself.

This appears to be loose connector to the motherboatd from the screen.
Try gentle squeezing of the casing near the bottom of the body
This may do the trick- otheriwise it is a workshop job and frankly not worth the cost - the money would be better spent on a more uptodate camera.
