Question about Canon PowerShot S230 / IXUS 179 Digital Camera
The camera is in great shape bu the last pictures taken and recorded were discolored...greens and yellows, etc. Now just black with white flicker. Is it worth fixing. Can it be fixed. How much and where??
As the others mentioned Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:

Not only does canon repair this problem out of warranty but they issued me a refurb sd630. Talk about good service - hooray for Canon!

Bad news :this is a CCD sensor problem and gets progressively worse ; eventually the sensor outputs nothing and you will get no image in capture mode at all ( note that you can review pics that were captured properly , but can not capture new images without distortion ). This is a 4 mega pixels CCD sensor from a Canon camera :
Good news :Canon will repair free of charge so contact them.
