Question about HP Pavilion a1710n (RK573AA#ABA) PC Desktop

2 Answers

I have no monitor signal at all.

It was working fine then one day when I switched it on it appeared to do nothing. I assumed the graphics card had died and bought a new one. The front cover light is on, the fans (PSU & CPU) are working, the HDD feels and sounds like it is spinning and the DVD drives open and close (I recently added a second DVD/CD from an old PC).

The PC is an Compaq Presario made in 2006 product Nr RF786AA. I previously added a graphics card and it worked for a year with that. I have tried removing all cards and using the onboard video but no signal.

What do I try next?

You most likely have RAM problems.
Try reseating the RAM module/s.
If it still doesn't work, the RAM may be faulty, test the RAM in another computer or take it to your friendly computer shop to test them.

You could try defaulting the bios. To do so find a small jumper on two of three pins near the battery. The jumper is normally in the "norn" position. Moving the jumper from "norn" to 'clr cmos" for 30 seconds and putting it back to "norm" may recover the system.

Good luck!

i think there is a problem with the power on the pc. if you can unplug the lead to the monitor and it works fine. but on the pc will not work, mouse can be connected. the graphics card could be the fault, it could be shorting out and making the power fail. this can damage the psu at the same time if not sorted.

Graphics card update

if you use windows 7, you should be able to enable dual screens by right clicking on your desktop, and click screen resolution, on the top right, click on detect (assuming you have your video cards enabled and the monitors hooked up). some new dropdown menus should appear for choosing what you need. hope this works for you.

Hp2009m not getting VGA or DVI signal, all plugs checked and plugged in properly. It has been working fine, this is the first time this has happened since I purchased the setup?

Greetings,

I would definitely make sure the "source" button is on the appropriate output (monitors can switch between dvi/vga inputs). Try toggling that button on the front of your monitor to see if that improves the situation.

Sounds like the graphics card is gone belly up. Try the monitor with another pc or just replace the graphics card.
Hope this helps

I have just set up new desktop Acer. Error message: No input signal.

check the website for drivers. But it seems to me that there is another problem most computer boot up no matter what screen is hook up. have you tried any other monitors ? If you have and the work im not sure what your issue is but i would say that most likely if another monitor works that it is the monitor but if none of them work it is a graphic card issue. If you could let me know what you are running and i can help more i.e what window's and what type of graphics card you are using
