Remove unit from dash

If you are in the U.S. you can get the laser assembly at pacparts.com for about $36.50 plus shipping and handling, which would probably be about $11.50. The part number is cxx1942. Alternatively, you can get the whole cd mechanism for about $74.00 plus shipping and handling.

you have to pull dash off. then remove the 8mm bolts that are securing the radio to the rear of dash

The removal keys for this unit are not the usual "U" or "HorseShoe" keys. Disconnect the live feed before starting.
You require the Pioneer removal keys to avoid damaging the unit. Your local accessory dealer may loan them but cheap enough to purchase. Once the unit is out you simply gently pry at the locking tabs which retain the cage into the dash facia. I normally use a firm electrical screw driver for this part.
Remove the loom and antenna etc. from the cage connectors and it should be free

remove the unit and disconnect the battery+red and yellow cables.check the front unit for derfomed plastics or stucked somehow microswitches!someone stucked from the heat!

you need two little flat pieces of metal that slide down each side of the unit to release the clips these come with the radios usually if you know anyone that has purchased a pioneer head unit you should be able to borrow them to do it. if not go talk to any install shop they have them laying around and will sometimes part with them. if you cannot get ahold of them you will have to remove your dash and pull the bolts out and remove the entire chassis to get at the back then reinstall it. you did not say which car you have so i cannot help with the dash removal.

Take the unit out of the dash. In the back of the unit, disconnect/remove the wiring connector. Underneath a little "flap" on the bottom of this connector there is a small red 10V fuse. That fuse had blown, and when I replaced it the CD?radio worked just fine.

slide them down the two enads of radio you will have to pop off the narrow trim bezel around radio to do this

If the facia comes off, remove it and you should see two vertical slots. Insert the keys and pull out the unit. Disconnect the plugs for speakers power and ariel.

the radios come with 2 removal tools. you remove the trim plate then slade the tools in one per side... what kind of car? i may be able to tell you a different way of removing it..
