Question about Acer TravelMate 650, 660, 800, 6000, 8000, Ferrari 3000 keyboard - KB.A1303.001

No operating system - instal xp pro

I could not boot into windows xp pro. Kept getting - system32driverspci.sys - I had tried to repair and also reinstall but it would not let me do either, so then I decided to try w98se. The laptop is an Acer Travelmate 6000 with about 1g Ram. Setup 98se deleted my xp pro and when I had to put a floppy (laptop does not have one) I shut the system down - When I rebooted from the hd I get the Acer Flash screen then the following:
'' Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 (build082) v6.2.2
Copyright .....
Copyright ...
All rights reserved
PXE-E61: Media test failed, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM
Operating System not found''
I am able to boot from the cd. I have managed to start the xp pro set up but when it goes to format I get a message -''setup was unable to format the partition. The disk is damaged. You must select a different partition for xp'' That is the only partition on the drive. The laptop has only one partition. I am now back to the setup screen that has the three choices - setup, create a partition or delete the existing partition. If I delete this partition will I still be able to install xp pro.

I hope I have made sense. Thanking you

With what you have done, it seems pretty cut and dry. You hard drive appears to be damaged, which is why your having problems formating/accessing it.
I would recommend running a hard drive test. If you not sure how, I would ask a local repair shop to run a quick test on the hard drive to confirm its bad. Most shop will do this test for free, if you get a hard drive through them. If you wanna go online and get your own hard drive, testing should be less than 30 bucks.

If this helps please rate my solution.

My ksuser dll for windows xp profesional

Just boot from the xp professional cd and run the recovery console.
Download the operating system from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2fcde6ce-b5fb-4488-8c50-fe22559d164e&displaylang=en
or
if you have it, install it using the procedure below:Boot From the Windows XP CD
  • You must boot from your XP . Please make sure it is the same version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer (ex. XP Home cannot repair XP Professional). Place the CD in your CDROM and start your computer. Newer versions will work as well (ie. Windows XP Pro SP2 CD will work on an older WinXP Pro SP1 installation)

you will be asked to press any key to boot from CD, so do just that.

    Step 3: System repair steps
  • A blue screen will appear and will begin loading XP setup from the CD.

simply let the CD load without pressing F6.

Once completed, you will be confronted with "Windows Setup". You will be asked to setup up Windows, or repair Windows with the recovery console. Choose the FIRST option, NOT recovery console.

Choose F8 to continue.

  • Next, Windows Setup will find existing Windows XP installations. You will be asked to repair an existing XP installation or install a fresh copy of Windows XP.

If no installations are found, then you will not be given the option to repair. This may happen if the data or partition on your drive is too corrupted.
That should be it. Windows XP will appear to be installing itself for the first time, but it will retain all of your data and settings. Just follow the prompts

How to solve pci.sys error during reformating of the hard drive

You have two ways to solve the problem of "Pci.sys Is Missing or Corrupt"
Error Message When You Start Windows.

1.Booting with WinXP CD to access the Recovery Console’s Repair option,
and then copy from WinXP CD the missing or damaged Pci.sys file to
Systemdrive:\Windows\System32\drivers folder , Exit and Reboot.

start the recovery console and type:
set AllowAllPaths = true
expand d:\i386\pci.sy_ c:\windows\system\drivers32 /y
If you don't type
set AllowAllPaths = true you can't access the windows folder.

2. Booting with WinXP CD and then perform a Windows XP Repair Reinstall
of the currently installed system.

If you need detailed assistance post with details of your Operating system

Boot failure. I get this message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: system32DRIVERSpci.sys

For what i see in forums, this issue is really hard, since u cant even start windows in safe mode cuz its one of the drivers that loads even on it. I suggest u try to run the repair windows option from a Windows CD, or even reinstall windows.
U could try to look over the internet for a pci.sys file and copy it via ms-dos if u know how to work on it.

Ntldr error on ibm intellistation z pro w/ xp pro

During the XP install, you will be given the chance to set up partitions on the drive. Blow them all out. Completely. Then recreate the partition and let XP install. I expect this will solve the nt loader issue. If, however, it does not, then use the recovery approach below to get the required loader files onto your boot partition.

  1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
  2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
  3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
  4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
  5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
  6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "d." This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\
    copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

  7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

About xp installation files

if you are alrdy running xp on drive c which i suppose is your primary, when you try to install xp again it will prompt you and confirm if you want to either upgrade or repair. if youy choose repair it will opt you on the same location wer your OS is right now. if you wish a clean install and windows will detect previos version which wil surely find the one in your primary, select the option to install in the drive you wish to install, pressumeably D. after you finish installation, all windows files everythoing will be copied in D. you can erase your C anytime. all systems files will be in your D or where you actually reinstalled windows now. everytime you install windows it will always boot on the last installed. in fact the original systems files in your primary will be changed thus will not boot from there but the new one.
