Question about Memorex MVD2022 DVD Player

Memorex MVD4544 flashes error message that reads "SAFE"

Last night, I think I set something down on my DVD remote that pressed multiple buttons simultaneously. I don't know what happened, but now every time I try to turn on the DVD player to eject the disk, a flashing message appears on the display that reads "SAFE." I've reviewed my owner's manual and can't find an answer, and I can't figure out how to disable the error message. I've tried unplugging the machine and plugging it back in, and I've tried a variety of different button combinations on the remote and directly on the device - so far nothing works.

For the record, I got the problem solved. If anyone else has the same issue, apparently you just need to hold the "power" button down on the remote for a full 5 seconds, and then the error message will go away. It doesn't work if you use the buttons on the actual console - just the remote. :) Back to fully functional DVD operation.

ZOMG thank you. Small children and remotes don't mix! Also small sick children screaming for their Spongebob video when you can't turn on the player is not cool. So sincerly, thank you for the answer!

You just did ;)

The download page will open in a new window.

Download instructions

1. Scroll down the page a little until you see "Download the Document" in big blue letters.
2. Click on "Download the Document" - after a few seconds another page will open
3. Scroll down this page until you can see a big red button with "Download Now" on it.
4. Enter the 5-digit code in the small white box above the numbers.

5. Click the big red "Download Now" button.

If you are unable to open the file, you will also need to download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader:

If you have any difficulty downloading the file or you have a problem with the player that you are unable to solve with the manual, please reply to me from within this page.

Hope this helps - the Polar Bears are counting on you!

Memorex mvd2047 dvd player - no audio when playing dvd

Regarding the problem with the sound on your DVD player, I would suggest you to make sure the audio cables (red and white) are connected properly to the TV and player.

Also, try using a different set of cables since those ones might not be working and this is why you are not getting audio. On the Memorex remote you will find a mute button, make sure it is not activated.

Split screen with pscan warning on

I had the exact same problem and I consulted the manual. All you have to do is turn the PSCAN swtich off. It is located on the back of the dvd player. Then turn the dvd player back on and your problem should be fixed.

Error message when reading DVD

Try changing the region setting to region free.

1. Make sure there is no Disc in the tray.

2. Shut off the unit and unplug it from the AC outlet.

3. Press and Hold the "Play" and "Open/Close" keys,
simultaneously on the player and not the remote control.

4. While holding these keys, plug the AC cord back into the outlet. (TEST and CPU ver# will appear on the display)

5. Release the "Play" and "Open/Close" keys.

6. Press DVD Menu twice on the remote.

7. When the display reads s000 5858 use the up and down buttons to change the 000 to 02E.

8. Using the Left and Right arrow buttons, change the last four digits until they read 0000 for Region Free, 0101 for Region 1, 0202 for Region 2 or 0404 for Region 4.

9. Press Enter on the player.

10. Press Standby and wait 5 seconds.

11. Press Standby again. Your player is now set to the region you requested. If you find some titles do not play on the region 0 setting, you may have to hard select the appropriate region.

Good Luck. Let me know if it works
