Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Disply grey with no color

When I open excel, work, etc the ribbon is grey with no color.  When using fill in, no color is filled into the active cell.

I ran diagnostic test and found no problems.  I took the repair option under change/remove, but this did not help either.  I changed my display settings, and that did not work.

I am computer dumb and am out of options I know about.

Please advise

I bought the new laptop with Windows7 genuine but the MS Office keeps on asking me for the key?

Usually when you purchase a new PC from the store, MS OFFICE will give you a 30 or 60 day trial of their software...if your trial period ends, it will no longer allow you to use the software unless you buy an activation key. I can suggest a free alternative to MS office. This software opens MS Office documents and has pretty much every capability that MS has too. For example, at work someone sends you an Excel document filled with can still open that using OPEN OFFICE Calc.

In Open word is "Writer", ms excel is "Calc", ms powerpoint is "Impress"...same concept but fully compatible.

Download it and try it out --

Yes - you will need to buy a licence for excel online and activate the trial version product.

Or you can copy the files to another computer that has got Excel.

Alternatively, you download the free OpenOffice software and use the Calc module which can open Excel files.

good luck.

Just click on the icon in the notification area and follow the directions on the activation wizard. If the icon does not appear in the notification area, you can click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Activate Windows. It brings up the same wizard. Select the method you want to use to activate windows and click next. Choosing the Internet option will automatically dial-up if necessary to connect to the activation servers.
