Question about Toshiba Gigabeat MEGF40S MP3 Player

Computer does not recognize Gigabeat Device

On my old computer the device worked well.  I recently bought a new computer (using Windows Vista).  I downloaded the Gigabeat Program with no problem - the program opens to the Gigabeat Room and it recognizes the music on my PC and on CD's, but it does not allow me to open the gigabeat device (to see all my music on my MP3).  What can I do to get my computer to recognize the Gigabeat Device so that I can get back to putting music on it??

I have the same problem except that my device is an MEGF20 MP3 player. My new PC has Windows Vista but it does not recognise the Gigabeat, so I am unable to play music, exchange files, synchronise etc. using Gigabeatroom 2.02.2. Thanks if anyone can help.

My new Windows Vista computer does not recognize Toshiba Gigabeat or the Gigabeat room software. The gigabeat shows an error message saying "no file found" with every track. How do i get back to playing music and transferring files?

My computer's settings were reset and now it does not recognize the software either. I have tried using the installation CD but no luck. I still have Windows XP so I'm not sure what the problem is. Also the buttons on the Gigabeat have stopped working.

I've got a Gigabeat MEGX30, my sister has exactly the same model. She has no problems connecting via her WinXP laptop, but Gigabeat Room on my WinVista desktop does not recognise the player when it's plugged in.

Have a F20, personnelly have always hated it, think it is rubbish and not very good to use. Now have a vista computer can't get a download to have gigabeat room to load on music. Think may have to dump and save up for an ipod think Toshiba Gogabeat is the worst item I have every bought. Would be nice for Toshiba to have a simple download of Gigabeat for Vista, can't be that hard to sort.

The solution is simple. Simply Run both Gigabeat watcher and giga-room programs as administrator if u have windows vista.
How to do this :

Click on start in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen,
then click on all programs,
then click on the Toshiba Gigaroom Folder,
then right click Gigabeat watcher and click on "Run as Administrator"
then right click "Gigaroom" and click on Run as Administrator

and then look in the bottom right of the taskbar, the little Gigabeat watcher symbol should be there with a green square instead of grey. If its green then it means Vista has recognised your gigabeat and u can now transfer music to it via gigaroom. i hope this helps people as i was on the verge of buying XP myself again... Peace all and HAPPY GIGABEATIN!

I have Vista and A Toshiba Gigabeat medf20 and gigabeat room 3.0 U.S.
The solution i've found was to change the compatibility mode to run the program as an administrator.
select the windows button
then all programs
then TOSHIBA gigabeat room 3.0
right click on gigabeat room 3.0 and select properties
select the Compatablitly tab
check Run this program in compatibility mode for
select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
Next Check the Run this program as an administrator
Click okay and re open the program.

Here is a good link for updating all gigabeats. www.gigabeat.com.au/support.htm Just follow the f-series links for the f20, f40 etc. Then download the version 3 software. It's easy and updating the actual gigabeat is a clear walkthrough though mine would NOT update. It said 'can't update' in the window but it works FINE on my vista home premium pc which would not tolerate the old version 2 original disk that came with the player.

I came across this link, its a firmware / software update.

Install this and vista should recognize gigabeat.

Vista does not recognize ANYTHING, if you have XP then KEEP IT.

I have learned about vista's compatibility issues the hard way,

and now im stuck with Vista and lovely payments from Dell.

The solution is simple, install xp on your main pc, you'll have a better performance and no softwware-problems, i now vista looks "pretty" but it's not very functional yet

Posted on Oct 22, 2007

Download the Gigabeat room 3.0 software (google it and find a megaupload link to the software) adn the Gigabeat should now be functional with Vista. The only problems i am having is that the Room does not always recognize when the Gigabeat is connected. Other than that, the 3.0 version is much better than previous ones.

The Gigabeat is not recognizing the firmware on it. The easiest way to re-install the firmware is to install Gigaroom. It will be able to recognize the Gigabeat and replace the firmware.

Philips HDD6330/17 suddenly not recognized by Vista

Check which version of Windows Media Player you have loaded.
Open Windows Media Player. Click "Help" and "about". This should show which version you have.
Windows Automatic Updates may hve updated to version 11.

The Philips HDD6330 is only compatible with version 10 under Windows XP.

If you have version 11, then uninstall and it should roll back to version 10.
