I have a phone with over 450 contacts & numbers. Since I am just not purchassing Motorola Phone Tools...when I sync, am I at risk of having my software automatically "set-up" my phone and delete all phone information?
I have had this with my PDA, when I hot-sync with a blank computer with a full PDA, the computer is dominant and my entire address/phone book is re-set to zero to match my empty computer.
Am I at risk of this or will the computer read my contacts and allow my phone to drive the installation?

It depends on the software solution. Generally, software packages do not over-write the contents of your phone, but merge. You can usually call your cell phone provider for advice or the software vendor that you are using to perform the sync.
