Question about iLO DVDR05 DVD Recorder

No disk message

After loading a fresh disk and it goes through the "loading" routine, it reports that there is no disk in the machine. I've tried both "+" and "-" disks and get the same result. It also won't play previously recorded disks.

Any suggestions on what I might check?

Re: No disk message

I'd say if you've tried cleaning the lens, tried different brands of discs, tried discs from other devices and that doesn't help, then its time to give up. I bought one second hand that wouldn't recognize anything and I couldn't fix it. I took it back.

Why am I getting a loading message?

Is it when you insert all disks?
Try loading different disks. Some machines are not compatible with all discs.
If it continues, have it checked for a possible lens replacement.

Hope it helps.Thanks!

Disc Error message

It may be a simple case of smudge, dirty, dusty laser lens. A bit of cleaning might only be needed. Pls try:
1. a can of compressed air to force out any out or foreign materials;
2. use a CD cleaner readily available from most computer stores/shops.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Loading is blinking

Try using a cleaning disk for the laser eye. This is a special dvd with a brush grafted on it to clean off thedoirt on the laser. Hired DVD;s are often covered in greasy finger marks and other debris which gets transferred to the iris as the disk spins. this eventually clogs the laser and it can no longer do a load and often reports no disk.

Disc does not appear to load. When inserted in

If you have a disk that you know works, try it. Make sure the disk is not upside down.

yes that is very possible. cleaning the lens of the dvd player should happen atleast once a month. it can also be that the lens itself is scratched or the lase does not reach the disk tracks due to dust or bad handling

Insignia dvd player will not load. error messages: NO Disk or Will Not Load. Disks play on other machines.

could be dirty laser, try a laser cleaning cd,you should get a little bottle with alcohol in to put on the little brushes, if that doesn't work could be the laser has given up the ghost

The DV-S5450 may use a belt-loading mechanism. The belt is typically black rubber band with a diameter of approximately 2 cm. It is commonly found in front-loading CDROMs for computers also. Often, as a result of age, usage, humidity, etc the belt snaps, rendering the loading impossible. The loading motor doesn't just pop the tray in or out. It also engages a clutch assembly that raises an inserted disk or lowers a disk to be ejected; this explains why you can't simply force out the tray. Clearly in your case all the electronic signals are there and the loading motor does turn.

Solution: switch off and unplug the unit and then open it up. Do a quick inspection to see if you can locate the broken rubber band. If you can, remove it and take it along with you to the nearest repair shop for exact replacement. If you are finicky around technical work, simply a competent person do it for you. Good luck.
