Question about Sanyo PLC-XP55L Multimedia Projector
The unit is near new, less than 50 hours on the lamp. I bought it on Ebay from a reputable dealer as a working demo tested but no warranty. It starts normally when the power button is pressed but as soon as the lamp strikes a few seconds later the temp and ready lights both flash the fan slows and it goes into a "locked standby" mode. Page 42 of the manual advises to remove power and try again but if it happens again "the internal check and service will be required".
Any checks I can do to solve the problem or have I bought an expensive lemon in need of a major repair?
One of the common problems on this and the 56 model is the exhaust cooling fan, the reason being that due to the heat given off from the lamp assembly the bearings dry up, even if they dont fail but go stiff, this also causes problems because inside the fan it is fitted like most of them now with a rotataion speed sensor and the system control monitors the pulse reference. If this changes and is not upto speed to keep the lamp cool enough the internal heat sensor detects this and the unit locks up into protection mode to protect the lamp assembly from getting too hot or even exploding.Kind regards John Williams www.jvsvisual.com

When it flashes, how many seconds is the interval? If its one-sec interval chances are you are having a hardware issue with the projector. You can clean the filter/exhaust of the projector and the other option is try to reseat/remove and reinstall the lamp of the projector.
Hope this helps
