Can you move the front derailleur into the correct position by hand? If not ,there may be some mud or debris stopping it. Another possibility is the limit screw is out of adjustment . The most likely thing is that your cable is seized. It happens all the time. Water carrying mud and stuff trickles down between the cable and the housing the cable moves in and forms rust which makes the cable stop moving when you shift. Undo the cable at the front derailleur and see if it moves into the correct position. I don't know what kind of shifter you have grip, trigger or what but after you have the cable loose try shifting and see if the cable is free in the housing . If it is then see if the derailleur is free. If it is adjust the limit screw and reattach the cable.

My 2011 Cube Streamer with Ultegra shifters and 105 front deraileur won't shift down from the big ring.


Push in the lever for shifting to the small ring all the way and let go. Then try to pull out on the shift housing where it enters the lever.

If the housing won't move that means the lever has not released the cable. Try flooding the lever with a light spray lube. If that does not work do a search to see if there is a repair procedure - otherwise the lever will have to be replaced.

If the housing moves out and exposes the cable then there is something binding the cable, and you will have to free it or replace the cable and housing.

Frankly, if it's that important I would think you would have the bike shop fix it.

I would like advice on adjusting the rear derailleurs on my Campag Record long cage set. I am very much an amateur, and am not sure which screw/nut to turn and by how much. Thank you.


ok...there are usually 2 screws,one above the other.The top screw normally adjusts the deraileur so that the deraileur does not touch the spokes.the bottom screw usually adjusts the derailer so that it does not go past the smallest sprocket.One way to adjust eg(incase you have clicking sounds as you pedal) is to put the deraileur into the smallest sprocket at the back end.Flip the bike upside down so it sits on the seat and handlebars.Now get right behind the deraileur and see if the deraileur is in line with the smallest sprocket.If it is not in line,then slowly pedal the bike and adjust the screw inwards until you hear no more clicking.If you cannot get into the smallest sprocket,then,turn the screw outwards while still turning the pedals.The deraileur will slowly move outwards until it jumps into the small sprocket and no clicking sound .Vice versa for the top screw.good luck.let me no how you get on

The Yellow drum unit needs to be changed. Open front door, push down the blue lever. Under the toner cartridges is a smaller lever, push that down and a smaller hatch should open. In there you will find 4 drum cartridges. Pull the yellow drum unit out and replace it with a new one.

I had to take off the rear weel of my falcon apache mountain bike to get it in my car o travel from my grandparens home to mine but i cant get the back weel gear arm back on. how do i do this??


By the "gear arm" I assume you mean that part of the rear derailer that the chain zig-zags through. This arm moves in two ways. It moves in and out (toward the wheel and away) as you move the shift lever - which is how it changes gears, by moving the chain onto different sprockets (gears). It also moves forward and back (toward the front and back of the bike) under spring pressure. This forward and back motion is necessary to take up the slack in the chain when you are using the smaller sprockets (the smaller the sprocket, the "higher" the gear). When the wheel has been removed, this arm moves forward (under spring pressure) as far as it can to take up all of the slack in the chain. All you have to do is grasp this lever and pull it toward the back of the bike, allowing the lever and the chain to pass behind the sprockets (gears) as you pull the wheel back into it's position. You can safely pull this arm forward and back at any time without doing any damage. One more tip-- I find it a little easier if you first put the shift lever in a "middle" gear position. Then when you pull the wheel into place, you should aim to put the chain on a middle sprocket. You don't have to hit the exact correct sprocket as you can simply lift the rear wheel and turn the pedals forward (after installing the wheel) and the chain will move to the correct sprocket corresponding to the setting on the shift lever.

While changing rear tire, my deraileur came off. The chain seems to be snarled up. I don't know how to ge the deraileur back on correctly. Thanks for your help.


With the wheel off remove the two pins which locate the guide wheels on the deraileur. Take off the guide wheels and the guide plate. Now straighten the chain and unwind the snarled area. Locate the chain around the smallest cog wheel on the back wheel and mount the wheel to the bike. The chain will hang slack. Now mount the upper guide wheel and guide plate to the deraileur making sure that the chain feeds off the rear cog and passes around the guide wheel towards the front of the bike. Push the deraileur forwards relative to the chain and slip the lower guide wheel in between the guide plates and pushing the chain back in the guides & fasten with the pin. As you reassemble the plates and wheels on the deraileur be sure to observe carefully which way the chain is running. It is quite logical and this should prevent mistakes being made

before you install the cable shift it in the position of small ring ,then insert the cable pull it and tight the screw in the front deraileur(left lever)to it same to the right

Shimano 105. Front derailleur won't shift down


It sounds like you could have two different problems. Your derailleur has become contaminated or your shifter may need to be lubed. Either way, the likely solution is the same. The best solution to get the derailleur operating again is to spray it with GT-85 or PB blaster and manually move in back and furth until it is working again. The same goes for the 105 shifter, spray GT-85 inside the shifter by compressing the brake lever and spraying towards the head of the shift cable. This will solve a non-functioning shifter many times.

The only other problem that fits is the limit screws could be wrong or the deraileur is in the wrong position. This would not be the case unless someone adjusted your derailleur before the ride you started have that problem. Or if the derailleur has moved. Both of which require the derailleur to be fully readjusted.

On my bike with shimano ultegra shifters and 105 front deraileur, I can't shift onto the big chainring. The deraileur is not at the stop, but I can't move it any farther. How do I fix that.


Try this first:
Shift into the little ring and release the cable. Pull it tight (with pliers) and re-tighten the cable. It should shift now. If it doesn't, the solution is a little time consuming, so i apologize in advance.
First, flip your bike onto the bars and saddle. Now shift into the small chainring and your lowest cassette cog (the largest in number of teeth). Release the cable from the front derailleur and set the adjustment knob for the front derailleur to its center point. You should find it on your down tube. Now adjust the "L" setting on the derailleur while turning the crank so that its stop sets it in a position where it just skims the chain but does not touch it. Now pull the cable taut and re-clamp the cable. Shift into the middle ring and shift the rear derailleur to its highest and lowest gears, making sure the chain does not rub the front derailleur. If it does rub (it will be in either the lowest or highest cog on the cassette), adjust the front derailleur by way of the adjustment knob to clear the rub. Then shift into the big ring and you should have no problem. Set the "H" stop if necessary.
