This disc is almost fully recorded on this same machine. Now that it is full the machine no longer recognizes it. There would have been about 10 minutes not used. There are no scratches or other problems on the disc. I have bought and used a lens cleaner and a disc cleaner. The disc is full but not "finalized". I have successfully recorded several discs of this type previously, just before this one. All it needs is to be "finalized".
Using your remote, select the dvd button, then the home button, left arrow until you get to the disk management menu, then select finalization from the drop down meu.
The manual is here:

You might try using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip on the lens to clean it.
SOURCE: some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player
The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

I had the same problem I thought it was me!! Dooh but sent it back and JVC very kindly replaced the DVD unit, I believe free of Charge and after is was out of warranty by a few months.
Well done JVC on this one.

I also tried a Sony DRU-842A and it works perfectly on the JVC DR-MV1SDR as a replacement of the GDA-4120B.
