Look and see if it appears as a monitor in your display settings, if it doesn't, then another good first step would be to update your video card drivers (go to this page and select "Video" then download " Intel Graphics Driver"). If none of this fixes it try the VGA cable with a different PC and see if it works.
Hi,
Your Sony vaio does not have any TV-out port to output the display on any analog TV. You can use your VGA (by using VGA cable) port to output your laptop on LCD / Plasma / LED TV (with a VGA port also)). If you still want to project to analog TV via the VGA port, you need to find a VGA to RGB adaptor. But bare in mind, it's hard to find one.
VGA port is like the port on computer monitor.
RBG consist of three colored port.
Good luck ;)
regarding that issue that you are having with the external monitor is not working with your sony vaio here are some steps that might help to have it working
connection between the monitor and laptop
- VGA ( blue adapter ) or DVI ( white adapter )
- check if the connected properly
- try to use a different VGA cable
- check if the monitor is detected by the computer
***please also do a monitor selftest on the external monitor***
- HDMI
- check if the tv is detected by the computer
- check the settings of the TV for the HDMI
the VAIO model vgntx1hp must have a VGA port on it, you can connect the TV to the 15pin VGA port. press the Fn+F7 keys on the VAIO to toggle the displays between the external TV and the VAIO screen.
Go to Sony's web site and download the specific driver for your display. Make sure you download the correct 32 or 64bit version otherwise it won't even recognise it. Check with Sony that it is a compatible OS version as some do not support Win7. Hope this helps.
It could be one of two things. First thing your display is faulty and will ahve to be replaced or the second thing is your system board is faulty. To know if its your system board use an external monitor via the vga port on your laptop if you can see and use your computer using the external monitor then just your screen is faulty if not then its your system board
.
Your computer may have come with cables to do just that. If not, you have options:
For video, I would check your TV inputs to see if it has a VGA port, since that would be the easiest. You can also get VGA to RCA or S-Video converters online as well if your TV does not have a VGA port. Almost all TV's these days have RCA inputs.
For audio, you can get a headphone jack (3.5mm) to RCA converter.
If you can't find the converters at your local electronics store, just google VGA to RCA and headphone to RCA.
Once you have the necessary cables connected to your TV, your computer will recognize that it has been connected to an external video source. I'm not sure, but I think it is either key combination Fn+F6 or F7 to perform a monitor switch. You can also right-click on the desktop and select properties (or personalize in vista). Then switch to the settings tab (or Display settings in vista) and click on the alternate display.
my problem is that i have vga coming out of the laptop and component audio and video (rca plugs) and s-video going into the tv
