I was looking for the manual on the gateway site and could not locate this model number, However I have a recommendation, that you be to get an USB Flash drive. They sell for as little as $4 and will hold hundreds of the diskettes information of 1.44Mb. Even a 1gb will hold 998MBs. more of information and too there is no installation...and you can go from any computer to any computer, for I know of no computer that doesn't have USB port.

I hope this saves you time and trouble.

Substitue different power cables for the hard drive and cd drive. Also check that power cables and data cables are firmly connected at both ends.

Use a DMM and test the power wires for hard drive and CD drive should read around 12VDC ( peak). DMM=Digital Multi Meter... If theres power then check connections remove them then replace them.

Have an older emachines T3104. The hard drive died, so had to reload OS (XP Home). The emachines website no longer lists the sound drivers for this machine. Where can I get them?

If you know the manufacturer of sound chip, go to their web site and get the driver.
You can look in the device manager to find the sound chip manufacturer.

Where is the disk drive for a floppy disk located at on the tower

Sorry, but it appears that the EMachines model W3503 does not have a floppy disk drive installed. See this link: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/emachines-w3503/1707-3118_7-32178774.html

Floppy disks are obsolete at this point. If you have data on a floppy disk that you wish to retrieve, see about getting help from someone you know who might have one on their computer system, or visit a public library (you might be able to offload the floppy disk contents and e-mail them to yourself).

Most people use USB flash drives now. They are far more reliable and have enormous capacity. Definitely get one if you don't have it. The W3503 computer has several USB ports on it.

Disc slot

If you are speaking of a 3.5 floppy, you won't find one on the newer systems. 3.5 Floppys are out of date and are rarely put into new sytems. If you have data that you would like to retrieve from some old floppy disks, you will need to go to a computer store ie: Bestbuy or CompUSA and get an external USB Floppy drive. Then you can save them to your hard drive and then burn them to a CD or DVD.

Hope this helps you.

Emachine t3104

Hi,

For doing a system recovery on E-machine you have to press F11 number of times at the very first boot screen then follow the procedure, and it will restore your computer back to the factory settings.
This option is available in new computers only. (2-3 years old)

Can u add a floppy drive to an emachines?

according to this, the motherboard is an ECS MCP61SM-GM

http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socketam2/ecsMCP61SM-GM.shtml

it says it has a floppy header onboard for adding a regular 3.5" floppy drive.

you can also find usb floppy drives that you can attach and use when you need without opening the machine.
