I get a black screen saying windows cannot load

When I turn the conmputer on, the ACER screen comes on, followed by a blue screen that flashes for about one second. After that I get a screen tat says Windows cannot load properly, and gives me 2 options;
1. Load Windows with last saved options(that worked)
2. Start Windows automatically
Both options take me to the same screen, the ACER screen, then it repeats the process.

I cannot boot from any options, including safe mode, and I do not have a CD drive. How would I reinstall windows?

  • jryan88 May 10, 2009

I have the EXACT same problem--my options are safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, and start windows normally. No matter which one I pick, I get the Windows XP loading screen and then the blue screen flash (one second is not long enough to read all of what's on it), then it powers down to restart, goes to the Acer loading screen, and then the "failure to load" screen with the options again. I'm having someone look at it on monday so I'll let you know if I find anything.

Any chance anyone knows how to bypass windows startup and go to the operating system Acer pre-installed? Like with the little buttons for web browsing, email, etc

Acer aspire one flash BSOD then loops booting up

You can repeatedly hit the F8 key when you turn it on to get to the Safe Mode and other options. Select the option to Disable Automatic Restart so that you can see what the error is on the blue screen.

Try running the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Follow these steps to fix a Blue Screen in Safe Mode

Once booting start, select "Safe Mode" from the boot menu.

Scan your hard drive by running your antivirus software . If the program locates an infection, move it to your vault or follow the on-screen instructions. After program completion, if a virus was removed, attempt to reboot your computer and see if this clears up the problem. If not, restart your computer in safe mode.

Restore your computer to a previous point. Click on the "Start" button. Select "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and finally "System Restore". Choose a restore point on or before the last day your computer worked without error. Finally Reboot your computer to see if it loads correctly.

Hello,

Your computer's operating system just crashes down. What you can do is to do a start up repair. You need the operating system discs which came with your computer during the time when you bought it. It says windows 7 installation/operating system.

Here's what you need to do.

1. Insert the windows 7 operating system disc in the dvd drive.
2. Restart the computer. It will bring you to a page which will ask you to press any key. Just press any key to boot to the installation cd.
3. A blue screen will appear and it will bring you to the page which has the option to install or to repair. Select repair.
4. Then follow the on-screen instructions and finish the process until it restarts.
5. If it does not fix the problem, you have to do a complete/clean reinstallation.

I am providing you a full tutorial on how to do it. Click on the link below so that you will be directed to the link.

The windows operating system may be corrupted. Suggest you restore it as the simplest solution.
The Acer Aspire One has a hidden partition on its hard disk drive that contains installation images to restore the system's operating system, applications and drivers to the factory defaults. Press Alt and F10 key together while the Acer logo is displaying as the system is powering up. This should enter Acer eRecovery Management. Follow the onscreen instructions to do the recovery.

Hi,

Try restoring back to factory default, to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

If still the computer is not working then I am sorry to say that the Hard disk gone bad and need replacement.
