Has no power

1. Check to see if there is an on/off switch on the router. If there is then turn the router on.
2. If it doesn't have a switch or you've turned it on and nothing happens then you should check your
wall outlet to make sure you have power. You can test it by plugging in a lamp or other small electrical
3. If the outlet is working, check your surge protector (If you are using one.) the same way you checked
the wall outlet.
4. If the surge protector is working, then check the wiring of the router power supply. Look for any
damage like nicks or breaks in the plastic shielding. If it is damaged it will need to be replaced. These
can be purchased at electronics stores like Radio Shack. They may be available at Belkin.
5. If there is no damage you have a few choices to make:
a. Replace the power cable. This may or may not solve your problem but if it doesn't work with a new
power supply then the router itself is defective/broken.
b. Return the router for repair or replacement. If you have a valid warrenty then this is a good choice
otherwise you will have to pay for the repair/replacement.
c. Purchase a new router. If this is an older router, over 2 or 3 years old, it may be a good time to

Belkin router can't connect to internet

This is part solution, part clarification request: When you say that you installed the setup software on your laptop, setup software for which: the modem, or the belkin router? Also what type of internet service do you have - Cable? DSL? If you are not sure, list your ISP. What operating systems do you have on your laptop and your main computer?

You say that you connected the modem to your main computer - I am assuming that you mean that you connected your modem with a network or ethernet cable (the one with a connector that looks similar to but larger than a telephone's connector) to your computer's ethernet card, or NIC, port. Is anything connected by ethernet cable to the Belkin router? If you have not connected the modem directly to the router, it will not connect to the internet, and anything connecting to the Belkin router will not be able to access the internet as well.

Try this: disconnected the power from your modem, then disconnect power from your router, and disconnect any ethernet cables from computer & modem, or computer and router. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the Belkin Router. (Ensure that you have plugged in the ethernet cable on the router into a port that is either set aside from others, or indicates "Internet", WAN, or something similar - it should be marked either with a different color, labled, or both). Now power on your modem. Wait until you see a steady "ready" light, green ethernet light, or the light usually lit for that model indicating it has completed its bootup tests and the internet connection is ready.
Next, ensure the ethernet cable is connected from the modem to correct WAN or "internet" port on the Belkin Router, then power up the router. Once the router boots up completely, plug in a cable from your computer's (main computer) NIC or ethernet card or port, to a port on the Belkin Router (there should be more than one port available, generally numbered "1, 2, 3" and so on - in a group, seperate from the WAN or internet port). Once you are sure you have the cable plugged into one of the correct ports, and if you have windows, restart your main computer.

Now on your main computer, check to see if you have an internet connection. If you do, you can now resume running the router's software setup on your laptop, which sounds as though it was walking you thru the setup process to connect you via wireless connection to the internet. Report back if you have any success, or if you have any further problems, and best of luck! Hope that info helps

Disconnecting connection. Have to restart router frequenly

Please check the physical connection of your router
and make sure that your router should be on master socket. After do a complete power cycle of your router
and after that reset your router with the help of your ISP.
If u still face the problem ask your ISP to do a line test on your line.

Hope this will resolve your issue

Loosing connection every 10 to 20 min...

You did not mention which version your router is running (V3, V4, V5).

I would blame the connection loss on a flaw in the firmware. Go to the belkin site and see if there is a new firmware available for you:

Looking around I found some people had similar problems:

If this helped, then please leave a comment here, so others might find a solution as well.
