DRC8335 not picking up channels when scanned

I'm trying to scan all of my stations over to the RCA unit, but not comes up.I've tried selecting cable and yes. I am hooked up to cable and going in to the RCA unit. It searches and scans for  channels, but none comeup after 20 minutes. I've checked the RF cables and the wall cable connection. Why is it not working??

Re: DRC8335 not picking up channels when scanned

Make sure you have tuner as input---if you are running through another unit as I am to get the signals to the tv--I have to select vidio1 as input to be able to see the screen. My guess is that input is not set to tuner.
Hope this works.

I've had a number of vcrs and vcr/dvd players over the years. But for some reason, I cannot set up this machine. I set up all of the cables exactly like I always have and the way that is instructed, but I...

These days the video input channel depends on the TV and any other equipment in the sequence. I've seen component video come in as Line, Channel 3/4 (with a switch on the video device), Aux1, Ex1, AV1, Channel 60 (I think that may be specific to satellite dish receivers). If the remote has an input button, try that (alternatively, look in the menu for source options). One thing to try: press the PSCAN button on the DVD remote (to toggle off the Progressive scan).

On some TVs the channel for the video is reached by going down from Channel 2 (this works when no channels are programmed into memory and the intervening channels are skipped).

What TV are you connecting to the DVD/VCR player? (If it is an older TV and any external device was connected to either channel 3 or 4, check that the TV works with any input device. I had a 19 year old TV (coax in only) that was damaged and no external device worked.)

I wish that I could be of more help.

Unable to operate recorder at all.

When you are turning the recorder on it is blocking the signal for cable going to the TV. Your TV will need to be on channel 3 or 4 depending on what the dvd/vcr player channel output is set to. This is why your tv is asking you to re-scan. It is losing the video signal because the dvd/vcr is taking over. The reason why the vcr with the button on the remote is because the vcr button is changing the function of the buttons on the remote to vcr. Even though the dvd/vcr is one unit they still will act like two seperate components independent of each other. They have seperate power buttons and the dvd player part may need to be hooked up seperately with rca cables to work.

Toshiba D-VR650KU can't "see" digital channels

On the Notification screen with Cable highlighted I found that left clicking on Cable gave a drop down menu with TV on it for selection. The manual says that while Cable is highlighted, use the up or down arrows to get TV to be an option and then select it and Yes and enter. Hope this helps. I have other problems with my monitor on Line Out, the screen oftens turns blue indicating low or no video using Line 1 or 2 inputs.

Getting regular channels to come in on VCR/DVD unit after channels scanned

Try pressing the input button on the top row and go over to the right icon for the tuner input, to make sure it has not gotton switched to one of the other inputs, front or back.
You might try completely unpluggin the power for
30seconds or so to get the deck's computer to reset;
If this doesn't help call the service number and get the
THOMPSON number to make sure it is not a defect in the
unit. SOunds like folks are sending alot of these back to the
manufacturer? Mine was tollerable for its glitches until my soon to be 2yr old's favorite tape is now stuck in it !!!!!!! We have only played about 6or 7 tapes in the thing in 3months?

you can try going from the wall to the dvd/vcr first then to the cable box then to the TV. It may find the channels but they might not be in the order you usually wouls see them i.e chan 4 may be chan 34 etc. this will only work on an analog connection, if you have digital cable box it will not work. other than that, you have to control everythng from the cable box and the dvd remains on chan 3 at all times.

No display

Press the DVD button on the Philips remote. Make sure the yellow part of the RCA cable is plugged into Output/CVBS/Out on the back of the Philips, and that it is plugged into a yellow input of your TV. Change your TV channel to Av1, av2, video 1, video 2, aux, aux 2, or whatever the correct video channel is on your TV. Then press setup - you will get your picture.
In order for the coax connection to work on Ch. 3 of your TV, you will have to get an additional piece of equipment - an RF modulator. It's better just to stick with the RCA red, yellow, white cables.

Dont kno how to record

Connect your cable from the wall to the RF IN on the back of pd-dvr100
Connect your RF OUT on the back of your pd-dvr100 with a coaxial cable not included to the RF IN on your cable box
Connect the red, yellow, and white RCA Cable to the front or back of your TV
and to the audio out and video out on your pd-dvr100
Press the SETup button on your remote use the up and down buttons to select the channel scan sub menu
select IRC for your tuner input source
select scan and press Enter
The recorder can now record all scanned channels onto your dvd+r when you press the record button
I only got it to record the scanned channels.
The good thing is you can record on another station while you are watching a show on your cable box.

Not able to scan stations

I don't understand why you would bother to scan channel when you have directv or dishnetwork???
directv or Dishnetwork required their units in order to watch any channel, which means:
A. Depending on your TV setting,if you use RF connection from your basic directv to the tv,you would have to leave the TV on Ch.3 or view the rest of the channels, you have to change it from the directv or dishnetwork box. You are NOT able to scan the rest of the channels from the TV,bottom line!!
If you have comcast or your local cable provider, once you have activated, you could use the RF signal coming out from the wall plate straight to the tv and go to TV auto programming,it will auto scan the available channels for you.
Don't waste your time on directv.
If you are thinking about recording from your BASIC directv or dishnetwork box, you would connect SAT. signal from the wall plate to the directv box, then use composite video/audio output and connect straight to your VCR/DVD player under composite video/audio input. Now you could record the viewing channel to the VHS.
Good luck!
