Re: Compatability

Hi Citrusrules,

From what I know about this phone system , it uses the digital Spread Spectrum security.  This is why the Sytem can work at long ranges. 900 Mhz is a short wave and gives you the best quality and distance combination. I am near positive that you will not find anything other than the H5450 handset to work right with your system. The 25450 system is near impossible to eavesdrop on. What I am telling you is, that you cannot get some other manufacturers phone to be compatible with the 25450 system.  Everytime you pick up the handset, the handshaking between the base and handset randomly select a spread of frequency  sequence and timing to go through during the next 30 minutes of talk. The phone system can choose between 1000's of sequences. I have to bust you bubble on this.  Its for real though. You have a top notch system.  Maybe RCA will develop a multifeatured nice handset that will be campatible with the 25450.

Hand set says connecting even before it is reset with new base.

This sounds like a registration problem, each 'old'
handset must be de-registered from its original
base and then registered to the 'new' base.

NOTE: the CS6229 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.

You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"

( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink. 2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration ===============================

( III.) To register each handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

Good luck !!

Error message on all 4 handsets "No link to base Please check base" wwhow do I check please??

Always include make, model and approximate age.

Base system failures seem to occur ever more frequently and is likely due to a custom integrated radio frequency circuit that is responsible for communication with the handsets.

Replacement of the system will probably be your best choice.

We have two newly purchased base units that can't pick up a line that has been placed on hold by the main reception desk phones. If you try to pick up a line that is open from these phones, they work fine....

You can't pick it up on another unit unless it is transferred from the original phone. I HATE that about this system. I have a question - we are trying to use a second base unit and are having a terrible time getting it to work right. Is it possible to use more than one base unit?

Before you call a technician (which will probably cost as much as just replacing the phone) do some diagnostics to see if it's the phone, the phone wire or something in the office wiring.

Our system E5947B has 4 phones - three of which

try removing the batteries from all of the hand sets.wait 30-60 seconds. 1 by 1 replace the batteries and place them on the main base. this will re-register the phones 1,2,3 etc. as you plug them into the base, they will be numbered sequentially

3.with your finger still on the find hand set button plug the base back into the power.
