yes the preheat is 10-15 min. and i was hoping that there might be a way to shorten it. i feel that it is a bit long. i know that some ovens take less time as short as 3 1/2 mins. so i suppose i deal w/ it or buy a different stove. thanks for your input.

I have a frigidaire gas range. As of 3 weeks ago it is taking an extreme amount of time to preheat. I am talking on the range of 60-90 minutes. This is up from 15-25 minutes before. It is 3 years old and there are only two adults in my house that I cook for.

We also have a problem with oven preheating on a Kenmore gas oven (I don't know the model, maybe from the 1990s, although it looks new). It takes about 15 minutes for the preheat buzzer to go off, but the oven can be 20-30 degrees less than the preheat temp was set. It may take 30 more minutes more to get up to the "correct" temp (we bought a thermometer to test this). Understandably, things take much, much longer to cook than they should. A service guy said "that's just the way some of these are" and increased the temperature setting, which hasn't helped. Is it time to buy a new one? If anyone can help, thanks.

A few questions first.  How old is your oven?  What is the entire model # that is on the sticker on the oven.  Model # should be somewhere behind the bottom drawer.

Are you saying that the preheat is 10 -15 min.?  If so that is really about average time.  I would look at the door gasket and make sure it looks ok so your not loosing any heat.  Let me know if this helps or I misunderstood your problem.

My oven bakes, but it takes 30 minutes to preheat

Hi friend, thank you for your post!

I know from your post that your Frigidaire oven is working but the preheat takes 30 minutes. This does sound like lengthy amount of time for preheat to be completed. From what you are describing it could be an issue with the panel, element, or thermostat. Since it could be anyone of these underlying issues I would recommend having a professional come out to diagnose your refrigerator to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts. -Matt

Gas oven takes 30 mins or more to to preheat

Open the bottom and have a look at the burner while its heating. The flame should be strong blue/white and both sides the same, if they are not you have some blocked holes in the burner. Remove the burner and clean out the holes (carefully, don\'t ream them out, use a small paperclip to clean them, be gentle.). Above all do NOT use any kind of oven cleaner on them, if they are aluminum, and most are the oven cleaner will destry it.

Preheat takes too long

does the oven bake properly when it does reach temps?
if this is a newer oven, with a hidden bake element, they do take longer to preheat so may not have any problems, just give it about 15 minutes to preheat.
if it is older and doesnt bake right, then you may have a bad bake element.
the unit will heat but wont bake right.
unplug the oven and take the bake element to your local parts house, they can check it and sell you a new one if needed.
