I've opened our Samsung DVD v4600, just to clean it a little. It now does not play DVDs. It gets stuck on "LOAD". A small plastic tab at the back center of the case broke of when I removed the top. Could this be causing it to malfunction?

Hmmm, thank you.... I will try to move the laser tray. And, I did remove the tab staright away, so that isn't the problem.

OK, I cleaned the eye and moved the laser thingy up the sliding bars toward the back of the unit. But, no luck. It's odd because it had been working all right. Thanks for your tips though!

I don't believe the tab has anything to do with it. You will have to manually push the laser tray all the way up to starting position and try again. It is actaully a very common problem with many players. The timing may have jumped.

You should try moving the tray. You can also clean laser eye with cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. I wouldn't try anything else on it or it may scratch the lens and won't read anything.

If none of these solutions help. Than I suggest replacing the unit. It would be around $120 for repair.

You are welcome. If that didn't fix it, it will have to be taken in to tech or just be replaced which will cost almost the same.
Like I said, it is very common problem with many disc players. And I work on them often, have yet to find much luck with the doors. Usually have to test all capacitors, and then completely remove the door, gears, and everything and reassemble.

I have a Samsung 1080P 7 DVD player and Samsung LN-T4071F television. I have them connected via an HDMI cable. Nearly all, if not all DVD movies I play get to a certain point and the picture starts...

If you have changed the DVDs and the problem is still there, then the problem can only be the DVD player.
The symptoms you describe cannot be caused by the TV or the connection.

Wish I could. I have the 4600 combo and the VCR works fine. The DVD stopped working many months ago and just yesterday started working fine again. Worked fine for two days and then stopped, picture froze, and all I got out of it, is the picture is loading. Wont give me back my DVD nohow, so have opened the case and stole it back. Tray will not open at all. Trying some repairs, will holler if succesful

Samsung DVD-4600 DVD/VCR Player

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.

So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.

Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.

sounds like you need to clean the laser lens. Try using a disc cleaner first and if that dosent work then take aprt and find the laser lens, take a clean q-tip and put a little alcohol and swab the lens very carefully Good luck
