Usually it goes through caps and lowercase then numbers. so like it would be a-b-c-A-B-C-1 if that makes any sense. and also some printers actually have a menu where you can type with the arrow buttons and you can switch to numbers on there.

How to make default tray 2 in HP Laserjet p3005n printer

HP printers will default to the highest numbered tray that contains plain letter paper. So on a standard 3005 Tray 2 is the default unless you have the paper type set for something other than plain letter. If you have an additional tray, then Tray 3 would become the default tray if it is set to plain paper. In this case, you would set tray 3 to either bond or letterhead so that the printer would only grab from that tray if you request either tray 3 be used or create a job that calls for that type of paper.

If this does not sort it out, post back again with a complete description of the printer including number of trays, what is loaded in the trays and how they are set for both paper size and paper type. This information can be found by printing a configuration page. This is done by pressing the arrow key on the control panel until display reads information, press checkmark (green button) then use down arrow until Configuration page is displayed and then press checkmark again. Page will print that shows all the settings for the printer.

I have a Samsung SCX-5635 multi-function printer/copier/fax & scanner. It worked great with my old IBM desktop computer running XP. However, a few days ago I upgraded to a new HP custom built HP...

Are you sure the driver is set to A4 paper and not Letter Size. Letter size is the default. Letter size being larger than A4 would mean the print would be off the bottom so you wont see it. Could be as simple as that.

How do I change the name and fax number on the top of my outgoing faxes

The software that came with the printer will have a "setup" or "settings" icon. You can change it there.

If you can't find it or never installed it you can delete the printer software and re-install it and you can start from scratch with the new information you want.

You have the settinigs on the printer wrong. There are two things you need to do:
1. Open the tray and check that the paper guides are set to 8.5 x 11 (letter). There are both length and width guides in the paper tray, and EXEC size is quite a bit off from letter-it is more than 0.5 inch narrower than letter. It is also shorter than letter.
2. On the printer, use the settings button to navigate to the paper size. (The exact wording may vary; it's been a while since I worked on a 4050. It may be under print settings.) Once you find the paper size menu, configure tray 2-yes, I'm sure-to use letter size, any type. By the way, on HP lasers, tray 1 is the fold down tray on the front, tray 2 is the tray that will hold 500 sheets of paper and is the "drawer" that you load. Don't ask me why they use that numbering system.

When entering a WPA key in the network settings of my HP OfficeJet 6480, how do I toggle from letters to numbers?

When you enter the WPA key, use the appropriate key on number keypad on the front panel. Keep pressing the appropriate key until the desired letter (upper or lower) appears.

Once the correct letter is displayed, wait a second or two and the cursor will move to right so you can enter the next letter or key.

A second option is to connect the printer to your using the wired connection and then open the web interface using the ip address of the printer. Login to the printer then go to the wireless security settings and enter the Pre-Shared Key (WPA key).

It's also a good idea to put a check mark in the "Obscure PSK" option box as an added security measure.

Iam facing in hp 4050 printer, when i have giving command from tray 2,printer is giving error on display 41.3 unexpected paper size but from tray 1 is working ok.i have done already in paper handling menu...

swap trays and test - if OK then your tray is set up wrong. remove paper and check that it is set for letter. also check the small switch (if there is one) on the Right hand side of the tray that maybe set to customer - change to standard. compare trays so they look the same - and check the settings in the menu for letter / plain on both trays

Printer problem

Your printer is asking for letter size paper to be put into the main tray. If you have the tray set-up to legal or something else, reset the tray for letter. If you need legal or something else in the main tray, place letter in the manual flip down tray and press the "on-line" button on the printer to bypass the tray selection.
