- I have tried and tried to clean out the shredder, but still am having no luck shutting it off. I appreciate your help and have changed the rating, but it really did not help. I knew what the probem was, but can't figure out how to fix it.Thanks anyway.

I had the same problem with my Shredded. In the centre of the paper feed slot is a little sensor that detects when you put paper in, it breaks some sort of light beam that is connected to the motor circuit.
Over time paper dust gathers on this sensor, covering it completely and fooling the machine to think that there is ALWAYS a piece of paper being fed into the shredder, the result being that the motor just runs continuously.
Clear the dust from this sensor and you'll fix this particular problem - a toothbrush worked great for me - don't use it to clean your teeth afterwards :-)

the paper feed unit must be cleaned of all paper pieces that have lodged inside. some pieces are making the paper detect switch send a false signal to motor.
why did you rate me as inappropriate? What's up with that? At the very least it should be "thanks for trying"....you CAN CHANGE IT to "thanks for trying", you ARE allowed to...I really am upset with this...
