Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

All the electrical lights are working but the dryer will not start. We tried to clean the dust area(where you unload all the dust), after that the dryer stopped working. Does anyone have any adive?

I have a Kenmore Elite, model 110 70052990. It recently stopped working. I had a technician that came out and said it might be electrical but was not sure. It just completely stopped working. What do you think? Thank you.

The dryer is on a separate circuit from the lights. go to your electrical panel and locate the circuit breaker or fuse for the dryer. if it is a breaker, turn it all the way off and then back on. if it is fuses, replace with new ones of the same amperage.

Help with dryer repair???

The first thing to do is unplug it and take the bottom kick panel off. You will see a lot of lint. Get a vacuum cleaner and clean it out. Then you need to look for the heater box. It comes loose with a couple of screws and you can pull it out. Take a picture of it or write down the wire locations. Take the two wires off that go back into the machine. Then you can take it down and have it tested at an appliance shop.

My clean filter light won't go off on my frigidaire & my dryer won't turn on

Did you try to remove the back cover after unplugiging your dryer ,to find a lot of lint in the back of the dryer? Some times you may have to clean in this area for fire safety. Maybe this would sold your problem.

we had the same problem and didnt use our's for about a year as a result! brought it to a guy in Cork Street, Dublin. what he did was clean out the pump area on the left hand side, near the back and at the bottom of the machine. having cleared out the fluff and dust he washed it out, flicked some sensor switch a few times (under a small plastic cover he had removed on the pump unit). when he put it back together it worked fine.

Dryer works but no heat

If a gas dryer, make sure pilot light is lit or wire to electronic ignition is connected. Make sure the area around thr ignitor is clear of dust and the filter and exhaust are clean.
If electric, check your home fuses or circuit breakers and make sure your plugged into the proper voltage and grounded outlet. Set on highest temp setting and run for a few minutes and check if your getting any heat.
Some newer dryers have a built in sensor that will only turn heat on if it detects moisture, so you may need to through in a wet towel.

Sounds like your motor may be shot. Or possibly one of the pully's bearings are seized and is causing so much resistance the motor is unable to overcome it.

I had the same problem. Really glad I came to this site. Had already tried to clean out the filter area. What really worked was unplugging and resetting the computer. Everything seem fine now.

Wont heat

the sensor may need to be reset. My felt filter had come off but the dryer worked fine until everything filled with lint. Much of the lint was in places you can't get to easily and Fisher Pykel doesn't mention cleaning these areas in their manuals. I know it is to late to help you but it may help someone in the future.
