Question about Canon PowerShot A520 Digital Camera
Today i was replacing a battery in my canon powershot sd750 when it accidentaly fell into my dog's water dish. It was only partially filled and i managed to pull it out within 10 seconds. I removed the battery and dried the outside and as much of the inside that I possibly could. Then, i turned it on and the lcd was simply not bright enough to see. It would flash on and off with brightness levels. I let it dry some more and now the lcd wont show up at all. is there anything that I can do to fix it, or is it ready for the garbage? Please help me to figure out what the problem is, because I love this camera!!
My guess is that you damaged it by inserting the battery prior to properly drying the camera. Chances are that you shorted something out when you powered up with water still inside the camera and if that is the case I would suggest placing the camera in a sealed bag/tupperware with some dessicant (a material that removes moisture form the air) and the battery compartment left open (and the battery out). Try powering it up after several days, I doubt it will work, but it won't hurt trying. Then call Cannon to see how much it will cost to get serviced. DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT DROPPING IT IN WATER. Just say it stopped working one day. I really suggest using a dessicant because if they open it up to fix it and find any noticable water, you will be SOL and it won't be covered under warranty.
