Compressor runs constantly, fridge cools, but not as cold as new

Compressor runs constantly, fridge cools, but not nearly as cold as it should be. Overload relay on compressor has been replaced. Should I change the temperature control module next? New compressor? Recharge compressor? Thanks. Josh

Is this compressor rechargeable? Can I buy a kit to do it at home? Can't find a tech to touch this thing with a ten foot pole! Would the coolant leak out if the unit was on its back? The movers had it on its back for about 40 minutes before I caught on. I love this stupid machine, so thanks for your help.

Ok guys......I found a tech to come and valve my compressor. He then added some gas because the sytem was very low. I have had ice cold beverages for 72 hours now! The only thng now is the compressor still doesn't shut off. Could this be the thermostat? Thx!

If unit is running constantly, and not nearly as cold as it used to be, most likely a freon leak. Possibly a partially frozen over evap too. If evap is mostly clear except for about 5% of it, most probably a freon leak. Changing controls will probably not fix anything. Need to look into this a little deeper.

Good Luck and hope this gets it done for you.

If unit was on it's back, there is a good change that the oil in the compressor found it's way into the evap. This another possibility. This could be one reason that no one will touch it. It is very difficult to get it out. In alot of cases it involves removal of the evap to drain the oil and sometimes the compressor too. That way the proper amount of oil can be added back into the system. I also believe that your system is a "Sealed" system. Meaning, that there are no service valves to allow for recharging of the system. You would have to get a piercing valve and add it to the system if this is the case.

Doesn't look very good for a fix. It may be too expensive to repair by a tech. Another reason that no one will touch it.

But, keep up hope. There are still a few techs out there that like the challenge of working on the "Out of the normal" equipment. So don't get rid of it yet. Look for any type of service valve that resembles the stem on your tires on your car, only metal. If the service valves are there, we may be in luck and can get it going. Please bear in mind that the EPA rules require that any and all systems with leaks must have the leaks fixed. You can not leave them leaking for ever. Again, possibly another reason a tech won't touch it.

Good luck to you my friend and hope you find that one tech that wants the challenge.

A amana French door fridge no fan water or.icemaker lights come on but no fan turning on or cold

Many Amana model fridges have the freezer fan wired through the bi-metal thermostat that is clipped to the evaporator. Either your compressor has a bad start device and that is why it is not cooling, or the compressor IS running and the unit has lost its refrigerant charge. Running compressor with no cooling = buy a new fridge.
Compressor hot, but not running = start relay replacement to get the compressor going. Start Device 8201786

My kenmore 253 upright freezer/fridge is not cooling the fridge part correctly. It's cool but not cool enough to keep the food fresh. The freezer works well sometimes. And sometimes it seems that it's not...

Try this test. Set a window fan behind the fridge to constantly blow air across the lower coils at the floor. If the fridge works well after a while of this, then the lower fan on the fridge needs replaced. Sometimes though, after a while, the fan will finally start working again because the cycle has finally corrected itself with the test. Leave the window fan run on low for a few days before removing it. The hum you hear is the compressor moving the coolant and is supposed to do the hum sound. That's good. Now once the fridge is working, and you still have a good freezer section and not cool enough below in the fridge for you, there is a knob that sets the cool lower by opening flaps under the freezer to let more cold down to the fridge area. Set this knob to colder and the flaps will open more.

My Whirlpool ET8WTKXKT0 doesn't cooling down. The fan is working, but the compressor like dead. What I have to check? Thanks. Victor

Its the problem with compressor,The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant ( R12) in the compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that freezer not cooling this indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

REFRIGERATOR NOT GETTING COLD

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. If the relay is ok there is a compressor problem or low freon it it don't start

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Candy CPCA250 GB Freezer feezing but fridge not cold

Hello jonnyclewlow
Welcome,

You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat, Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly

This is my first thought

Fresh Food temperature is
too warm. Freezer
temperature is satisfactory.

1. Fresh Food control is set too
warm.
2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24
hours for temperature to stabilize.

3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.

The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back!
This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge!
So check your air vents in the freezer.
I'll bet you did not know they were there !
Most of us never notice!
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you!
or if you have any questions.
Thank You, huuum
