Hard drive problem

Hi There,

I have an external Hard drive and yesterday it was working fine. This morning I have plugged the USB in and it brought a message saying ( you need to format the disk before you can use it ). Its an external  Usb hard drive and the files inside are very very important to me. I have tried to operate it in more than one computer but the same message appeared.

Please find me a solution please. :(

Try a powered USB hub. I have had this problem with a PC and even plugging two devices into a hub with its own power supply fails sometimes.

Hard Drive not accessible, now not recognised by computer

Do you have another computer you can plug it into? The problem could be with your USB. If it is, see what updates you installed and then removed that may have affected that. You can also go to the manufacturers web site and download the original firmware or updated firmware files.

Lacie 1TB External USB Drive tells me to format when I plug it in

I finally found a solution. I used GetDataBack, it was easy to get, I used the usual torrent sites to get it, and it recovers your files from your hard drive if you have problems with it (i.e. can't access it, etc.). I think my problem was caused by pulling out the usb cord without Safely Removing the hardware,

Our crossfire doesn't work

Usually this is a problem with the usb port not being able to supply enough power to the drive. The current is often limited at the usb port, and the hard drive may need more than what is being supplied. This is a common problem, and the drive itself is usually fine. If the usb cord has 2 usb plugs on it, plug them both in. If you have an external power jack on the drive, use it.
