Question about Sony (ICSSP20) TV Input

Can't get my Panasonic DVD recorder working with the TV

I purchased a Panasonic DVD recorder model #DMR EX28. I am trying to hook it up to my Sony Trinitron model#KV27FS100. I cannot get a menu to finish setting up the DVD recorder. I have it hooked up exactly like I had my Sony DVD Player, but I cannot get the menu on my TV screen. What can I do to fix this problem? Panasonic Tech Support said she wasn't trained to handle this problem and couldn't help me. The gal at Panasonic said I need to find out how to get to the dvd input on the tv. I've tried TV/VIDEO button, but no luck. Thank you! Mike

DVD-RW discs are ideal for temporary video recording and data backup, but they are not recommended for successful finalising, as there is no guarantee that the disc will work in another device.

Have you tried using DVD-R discs? these CAN be recorded in video mode AND finalised for compatible playback in other players. I assume the DMR-ES30V is a DVD/VCR combo unit - if so, the DVD recorder will not recognise RW discs; only DVD-RAM and DVD-R.

DVD-R discs are recommended for video recording and finalising in this model. (later model Panasonic DVD recorders allow RW disc recording).

To hook up you need to go from the satellite box to the recorder then to the TV. If you do that then you should be able to record the show on Tv. You can get the manual on the link below. Page 7 tells you how to hook up.

DMR E55 timer recording won't work

Your recorder doesn´t have a digital tuner, let alone an HD one. You can record digital programs via your TV tuner if it gives a signal out. Connect your TV to AV1 or AV2 on your recorder and program the recorder to record from the one you chose. You must program the TV separately (I don´t know if this is possible on your TV) or leave it on and on the channel you want to record.

PANASONIC DVD RECORDER

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Since both are record capable:
  • hook the Video and Left/Right Audio OUT of the DMR-ES30V to one of the composite/matching INPUT of the DMR-EX88;
  • use the DMR-ES30V as a player and the DMR-EX88;
  • to be able to watch and monitor the output, temporarily hook up the OUTPUT of the DMR-EX88 to the INPUT of the TV.

Fuzzy Picture

Are you using the component (RGB) outputs, and a Sony TV? I believe that there is something in the output of at least some Panny DVD recorders (over the RGB component path), which Sony TVs don't process properly.
