Printing an A3 document on an A4 printer

I am trying to print some A3 pdf documents on an A4 printer. If I print normally, they come out as A4. I could use the zoom feature on the print menu, but then I would just have the first half of the page to be printed on one A4 sheet. How can I get the second half on a different A4 sheet.

I have a Minolta Magicolor 2450. I have looked all through the printer settings. It has excellent choices for printing multipage - but no 'poster' feature, such as some printers have.

Any ideas?

Re: Printing an A3 document on an A4 printer

My printer offers a so called "Poster Mode" (Canon IP5000). Here I can define how many pieces I'd like to get.

Set your paper size to A3 - it should print out the docs on two seperate sheets of A4.

Unable to print to canon IR7200

More than likely their is a problem with the file or that it is too large to process and has gotten stuck in the que on the copier. Go into printer set up and find restart server or clear server - it's ussually at the back end of all the settings. You want to clear the server and restart it. Then try printing a few pages of the file to see if their is an issue with it. If that prints then print half of the file, if it's has a lot of graphics pick a smaller chunk. You can also restart the server through the copiers internal web page - to get to that type the copiers ip address into internet explorer and it should bring it up.

I have an error msg saying load plain letter SSF 024-969

I guess that you normally use A4 paper. If this is the case you are most likely printing from a document that was created using the Letter paper size (typically a Word Doc of PDF file created in the USA). The solution is to reformat the document that you are trying to print, to A4. You may change the formatting of the document when doing this and page numbers may be incorrect when compared to the index and contents pages.

I have an HP 4V laserjet printer. It was printing fine until today. Both trays are full but it wont print. Form feed light is on, LC load letter message is flashing.

This is looking for Letter Sized Paper and presumably nit A$ that you normally use. This is usually caused by printing US documents and not resetting the paper size in the application before printing as the paper size will be embedded in the document in its original format.

Simply select the whole document and then reset the paper size to A4. You may need to check the document for lost images and tables but generally the text should be OK. Also the index and table of contents will also be affected as you will presumably have more A4 pages in the reformatted document that in the original.

Printer problem

From the Printers & Faxes window, check in the i9950 Printing Preferences, Page Setup tab, for the following settings:

Page Size and Printer Paper Size are both set for the same size (both A4 or both A3).
Printing Type is set for Normal-size Printing

The graphic on the left should now show A4 (or A3) and Normal-size Printing in the legend.

Once that is set, verify from the application you're printing from that these settings are not being changed by the application (Preferences button in the print dialog box).
