I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care 11, Inperial Series. The washer will wash, but stopped during the rinse cycle. I turned the dial and the watered emplied out of the tub. On the next load, the same problem. When I turn the dial I can get the washer to operate in the aggitation mode, but the water will not pump out at all no matter where I turn the dial.

I have a Whirlpool "Thin Twin" (stacked) unit for apartment or limited space applications. The spin cycle stopped working after the machine was violently shaken by an oversized, unbalenced load - (a mattress cover).

I have removed the cover panels for access to the motor/tub area and found no obvious damage,(belt is good, no wires loose or hanging, nothing obvious broken. I need a troubleshooting guide or basic info on possible problem(s). No problem with technical jargon. Please advise

I pressed the lid switch with a stick and the motor runs but still the tub does not spin. I have a Kenmore and there are no belts . I think it's a clutch in the transmission (big problem). With the machine tilted I looked underneath and had my wife turn it on and press the lid switch. It tried to turn but only moves a little and very slowly at that.
    TIA, Ice

The washer will spin and pump out water but it will not fill up to wash the clothes

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2014

My washing machine hums whem the button is pulled out for any function and will not turn on wash or spin cycle.

  • Anonymous Mar 19, 2014

When the cycle is selected it appears to start normally, ie fills to the required level etc. but there is no wash motion. The machine will then go through the time it takes to complete the wash cycle and pumps the water out. Normally it would then start a spin cycle but the again is no movement in the machine. It will sit there indefinitely with the lid lock light flashing. Just before the wash and spin cycle there is a short hum...I feel it is from the motor trying to start, but no movement from the wash tub. Any help would be appreciated.

Stuck in wash cycle

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the dry spin with the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water from the clothes during the spin.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Why does the washer start moving before the water is filled? Before the water would fill before it starts? Its only a year old.

Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. In this case it seems that the level sensor is triggered to come on before as there is a false setting or fault on the sensor which can be the suspect.

I am just trying to figure out how many cubic feet my whirlpool calypso washer (model gvw9959kq2) is? Thank you.

The 3.5 cu ft Whirlpool GVW9959K is a unique washing machine that is Energy Star Qualified. It features the Calypso technology which helps prevent piling, shrinking and provides excellent stain removal. Save money and energy (up to $100 in utility bill savings) with this Energy Star Quiet Wash washer. The multiple cycles which include the hand washables cycle, the wool cycle, the bulky items cycle, give you the many options you need in determining the right cycle for your laundry. Automatic water level settings, multiple wash/spin speed combinations, 5 wash/rinse temperature combinations, and stainless steel wash basket with limited lifetime warranty are just some of the many reasons why this washer is the best choice for you. However the washer has a quirkiness also. They tend eat garments from time to time and take a dump when overdosed on detergent. The basket is suspended on four rods and is easily removed for servicing the motor and pump. The pump has a motor mounted on it. The whole time the washer is in motion water is continually poured over the clothes. It has a heck of a spin cycle at the end. Theory of operation, how to operate, repair and diagnose them fault does is HERE in the service manual.

My whirlpool duet front load washing machine stops in mid cycle

F21 = LONG DRAIN ERROR

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the “Sd” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear.

Procedure:

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
6. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
7. Replace the pump.

Alternative Procedure:

If the machine cannot be forced to its diagnostic mode then:

1. Disconnect the washer from the power supply and water supply.
2. Remove the top panel by taking out the three screws in the back of the washer. The pressure switch is right on top.
3. Remove the Molex connector from the water level switch / pressure switch.
Refer to the picture below.
4. Reconnect the power supply but not the water supply.
5. Power the machine. The machine will enter diagnostic mode.
6. Power off the machine.
7. Replace the water level switch / pressure switch.
8. Reconnect the water supply.
9. Power on the machine it will work without error
